HOSTER locks on CUE

I have my KMA folder on an external hard drive in a usb 2.0 port.

I have an HP Pavillion dx8000 laptop with xp pro and 2 gig ram.

When I start the program and try to play the first song, it locks on CUE for up to 5 minutes. Restarting the program helps at times, buy usually, no.

This is new since 4.03.

Are you trying to play the first song immediately after opening or waiting until the short Hoster video (15-20 seconds) plays thru to initialize the setup? This does not show in the preview on this version, but shows on the Show Display if you have it set to "On."

After the video

Hi
I let it fully load and play the video

ddouglass September 14th, 2008 03:09 PM

What type of file is it that you are trying to play first?

Beavis September 15th, 2008 10:32 AM

did your drive letter change ??

sskydiverr September 15th, 2008 09:38 PM

sorry I have been away

My drive letter did not change.

I forgot to mention that after the 5 minutes it works fine.

It does not stick on mp3-g files using the KJ-Oke button, it sticks on the KMA files pulled in with the search option .

ddouglass September 15th, 2008 10:15 PM

What type of KMA file are they?
Does only the first one hang or do all of them have extended cue time?
Have you tried defragging both drives?

Beavis September 16th, 2008 06:34 AM

when i first installed 4.0 mine did the same thing, it lagged and i thought something was wrong. but after a few minutes it was back to normal. it never did it again.

converting mp3g files

What type? I am importing mp3g files. Whatever they are called by Hoster.

I will reduce the folder sizes and try again.

Muchas Gracias

Bill

How many files are we talking about? It sounds like windows is trying to index the files on the drive and just needs a couple of minutes to get the job done. Do you know what the speed of the external is? Spindle speed and read/write speed could be the culprit here if you have a huge number of files on the external.

sskydiverr September 20th, 2008 04:55 PM

7200 rpm

the external is 7200 rpm

There are only 26000 kma songs at this time. It never did this before 4.0

And you don't think 26,000 is a lot of files? Are you running windows indexing service? If you are you can dis-able it.

To disable the Indexing service, open Computer Management from Administrative Tools (on the Start menu if you enabled this, or from the Control Panel), select Services and Applications, double click Services, and find the Indexing Service. Double click to bring up the Properties window, and click Stop to let Windows stop the service. Then from the Status type drop down box select Disabled.

not alot

I have been accumulating my collection for many years. I sing at shows where hosts have well over 100,000 files.

If over 100,000 runs easily, why does 26,000 have a problem?

Hoster 4.04 fixed the cue problem.

Thanks everyone.
