here goes ? i have a hp pavillion notebook windows vista a Mackie 802-VLZ3 Ultra Compact 8-Channel Mixer vocopro dk3900 mixer amp a behringer usb interface
my ? is should i hook up sound from notebook to tape/ch in and out or should i hook sound from note book to channel 3/4 useing rca to 1/4 plug adapter and run sound from mixer thru main output useing rca to 1/4 plug

also how is the best way to hook up this system to record my daughter recording karaoke for pratice any help will be great as i have a big show this sat eve don't want to mess it up ups will be delerving the mixer today please help a tech dummy thanks raymond

You could use the 'tape in' connection, would work just fine, however I've got a similar setup and I always hookup to an actual channel (I think you meant 5-6 or 7-8 (looked up the specs on your mixer)) That way you will have control over the highs-mids-lows too. Futhermore, if you're using stage monitors, you can create a seperate mix adjusting the singer's mic and backing vocals/music.

Quick cheap way to record, just hook her mic up to channel 1, computer up to 7-8, use a set of headphones to get a good mix (and for her to monitor herself as well) and then just hook the 'tape out' to the recording inputs on an old cassette deck (most folks have one around somewhere, or you can get one cheap on craigslist).
