cannot duplicate disc

I am trying to duplicate a disc Progrees bar stops moving and finally I get an error message that says ASPI timed out. Im running ME 1 gig processor 512 ram 16 bit color 8.1 direct x HP9100 recording at 8X. Maxtor 80 gig 133ATA hard drive:f :?

You may have the problem described on the Microstudio Tech Support Forum titled "Sticky-ASPI Driver".

It may be an indication of this if you change to default ASPI then re-boot the p.c. and everything seems o.k. for a bit, but then it starts messing up again.
