Is there an explanation why the same songs keep disappearing?

I have some troubles with specifics songs.

I load them to the playlist and then when I hit the play button Hoster opens a windows telling that the path is missing. It happens with Hoster 4 but when I use 3 I can play them so the kma is not missing. What bugs me is that it happens with the same songs.

I have one song that acts like that too. It does inexplicably work on occasion though. I have found that if I load it through the K-oke button, it works fine. I will be interested to see what the solution to this one is.

How about some details.

Are all of the problem songs the same file type? And if so, what file type?
If they are HDMP3G, were they originally HDZIP that were converted?
Exactly which Hoster 4 are we talking about? 4.01, 4.02 etc. Which version did you have the last time you rebuilt the database? Are you using Vista or XP?
And anything else you think might be applicable

I run XP on a 2.2 dual core with 3gb ram and have 90% free space on C:
And yes, I have all updates and nothing, and I do mean nothing, that is not absolutely vital to the operating system or hardware installed or running.

Mine is a song off a regular CD that also contained a couple of bonus karaoke tracks. The song is titled: Get the F**k outta here off of an album by Red Peters entitled Ol' Blue Balls Is Back. It was first converted to Mp3+G then volume normalized and stored in a zip file. It was converted by 4.02 back to MP3+G and stored in a KMA. I don't have any problems with any other songs, nor have I been concerned enough to investigate further. I just play it at closing time. No big deal. I was just loading it in the list and when it came time to close, I just open up 3.4 and hit play. I did take about 30 seconds to load the KMA from the K-oke button in 4.03 and it played fine. It appears in the list as an MP3G in both 3.4 and 4.03. I am sure if I would take the time to reload the zip it would play fine but I haven't cared enough to do so. I don't currently have a machine running at home with Hoster on it. My backup is still at the bar in the storeroom until I regain my confidence in 4.xx. That is where my backup zips are stored and don't really care enough to drag it out just to reload one song. The song played fine in 4.00, 4.01, and 4.02.

I have had no other problems with anything else in 4.03 other than the out of sync problems a lot of others have had. If I run in manual mode and don't stop/start any songs, I have no sync problems. If I run in auto mode and try to rush a stop/start situation, the lyrics go out of sync and I have to close and reopen Hoster. If I hit stop and wait for just a second before hitting another button, I have no sync issues.

the ones that are behaving like that are regular songs on regular cd+g's. I uploaded them the same way using Hoster to convert them to kma's. This is happening with every Hoster 4, now I have the 4.03 installed.:?

What specific CDs are you talking about. I have a whole closet full of CDGs to draw from and will try to replicate your issue. Now that you made the problem interesting, I will take the time to investigate and see if I can come up with a solution or at least a workaround. If not, I may be able to find something in common between us that will help narrow it down.

It happens with different brands. They are the regular cd+g's that you buy at any store. They are not multiplex or have any security. I recall that one of the is from a latin producer that is called discosjade.com. Another one is from Soundchoice.:? It happens with the same songs so it is not a random bug.

Which one? I have every SC disk ever produced and will try it to see if I can make it not work.

rickyrey September 8th, 2008 04:42 AM

Soundchoice Spotlight SC 8951

The song that keeps disappearing is the track 12
Makin' It by David Naughton

Since it is a classic disco song I have it requested all the time and have to use the one from Legends Series that is inferior. I put them both in the playlist in case that SC doesn't work.

I've seen some posts suggesting there might be cases where Hoster is trying to access an old songs.mdb, which might be part of the problem. It might be worthwile to do a search for songs.mdb. and delete any you find EXCEPT the one at C/MTU/Hoster.
The location C/program files/Micro Technology Unlimited/Hoster/Databases is where you are most likely to find an old one.

rickyrey September 17th, 2008 03:35 AM

Did not had that file under the old Hoster directory

So I still don't know what's happening:?

rickyrey September 17th, 2008 03:45 AM

I just used my main external hard drive with Hoster 3.21 that is installed on another computer and can not find the file either. This never happened to me before 4. Perhaps, Hoster 4 may have a bug that corrupts my KMA's???

I can see the file but Hoster 3 or 4 can not find it:e

Did you build the database to tell Hoster where to look?

If you can load the kma using the k-oke tab (in 4) or the mp3g tab (in 3), and it loads with the playlist showing the title, it's probably not corrupt.

rickyrey September 18th, 2008 07:00 PM

The way that you suggested worked just fine. I can play the files if I upload them using k-oke button. Do you know what is happening?:?
