merge song database

i was over a friends house trying to help her with her comp. problem, ( couldnt find any solution) but anyway, she's running out of space on her c: drive, so i copied most of her songs to an ext. drive when done copying, tried to rebuilt her song database and got a msg." hoster has encountered a problem" and so on..tried to do it again same msg, and also i was just gonna do a merge, but it's only showing " add and rebuild" i'm lost on these new versions...

"Add" is "Merge". If you are going to rebuild, first go to that window & Delete the folder where you HAD the songs before. Also, delete the Songs.mdb foldler. Then reboot your machine. When you turn Hoster back on, it will automatically create a new Songs.mdb folder. Then, when you go to "Rebuild" (Add), Add the NEW folder on the External drive where you are keeping the Songs (kma's). Now, Rebuild and everything will be fresh & will include all the songs.

See, now you didn't include this information in your other post about this same machine. This sounds like the 2 are the same problem. Windows is running out of room for it's swap file and is causing all the other problems also. You need to get some breathing room on this drive to give Windows room to work. Copy all you can to an external drive, or just clean house of all the crap. Empty the recycle bin and try all these things again.

when you say songs.mdb folder are talking about the save to file c: mtu\kmafile or the folder on the window where she had all her songs, i thought about deleting the folder on the window, but i was kinda hesistant, you said " add is merge " i'll try that when i see her again, i'm so used of the old version, i thought importing songs /cd's was left as is, except for the marquee and some other feat. but anyway thanks..

"Songs.mdb" is the database Hoster uses NOT the folder where she keeps her Songs, which should be in .kma format
When Hoster rebuilds, it creates a file/database which is what is used to create the songbooks. It is the list of songs with the path showing Hoster where to find your songs. It is: C:\MTU\Hoster\songs.mdb
When you rebuild, it will start all over and create a new list.

Yes the older versions said Merge or Rebuild. This one says "Database" and then Add or Rebuild.
i thought importing songs /cd's was left as is,
Yes, importing was left the same way. That has not changed.
Your questions were about "rebuilding" not "importing".
except for the marquee and some other feat. but anyway thanks..

My previous post was to give you step-by-step instructions on how to "Rebuild".
I hope this helps.
