Requirements to copy a Karaoke DVD to a CD-R disk
 

Hi ,

I would like to copy a karaoke dvd to cd-r disk, and be able to use the cd-r disk as the original karaoke dvd. In other words, I would like to play karaoke, toggle the vocal on and off, etc. Please let me know if this is accomplishable using the MTU's software.
Also, I am using a Compaq PC with the following components:
DVD reader: Compaq DVD-Rom DVD1-114
Recorder: Sony CD-RW CRX100E 3.a
Operating system: Windows 98 First Edition.

Since no one else has jumped in here, I'll try to answer your question. The folks at MTU are quite specific on their website regarding the Karaoke format that they support, which is the CDG format. I don't believe you'll see any reference to any other Karaoke format other than CDG supported by any of their products. This is in addition, of course, to regular audio cd.

Cannot be done on a CDR
 

Hi Brian,

Karaoke DVDs could be re-recorded on DVD-R (blank DVD) but cannot be directly copied to a CDR. There are utilities out there that may allow "ripping" of a DVD to another format (MPEG for instance) but to do a "1-to-1" copy of a DVD would require a DVD recorder, and DVD-R blank media.

My next question would be: Can I use the MTU software with a supported DVD recorder and DVD-R media to copy Karaoke DVD?
I really like it if I can use the software and to be able to copy only selected the songs from Karaoke dvds. Is it possible? If the answer is yes, please tell me how.

MTU products at present do not support DVD in any way at all. As far as the future goes reading into future products etc there is no imediate progression into this field.

DVD duplication
 

When you purchase a DVD recorder, it will come bundled with recording software. Since DVD karaoke is not a special format, the DVD discs can be duplicated on a 1-to-1 format.

I don't know of a direct way to do just certain songs, but using MTU's Karaoke Home Producer software in conjunction with DVD sound output through soundcard, you could theoretically make your own CDG versions of the DVD audio.

Try a sample - Using "Mixed Output" as your sound recording source, play the DVD, and start recording audio.

I did find a website that may solve the problem. They claim to be able to copy DVD to CDR and list whatever is necessary to accomplish this. The address is:

Thank you Scoob for your suggestion. It is valid if Briannu wants to record the music and add the lyrics.

Briannu, as has been made clear by several posts here, MTU only supports the CDG format. Reading a DVD disc is not possible with our software, nor is writing one. That is a different set of technology than what we specialize in.

I believe you will find that our Karaoke Home Producer software (which has a free demo) is very straight farward to use. It does require a bit of "ear-hand" coordination, and most folks have enough to do the job. You might want to download the free demo from our home page and try it. :c

Out of curiosity, I ordered this software. Not only is it a "burned" copy, not a boxed software as represented on the site, it also is just a wizard that points to several freeware programs that will rip DVD, covert it to VCD, split the files to fit on separate CDRs, but has a LONG instruction on how to piece everything together!

Not worth the $29.95.. wallets beware.

Just got curious and typed in copy your dvd.com(i wanted to see if I got the same people, or perhaps the legitimate vendor) and got a site located at copymydvd.com that sells a dvd copy software for $39.95 that they claim to work with any burner, and offer a 30 day no risk trial. Interesting.

You can COPY a DVD to a CD-R with ONE CLICK!
 

As a previous Post Noted, there is a "Scam" going around that
says use our Software to make a copy of your DVD. It is merely
a "Wizard" that tells you step by step how to do it. It requires you to download about five (5) programs. You have to use these programs to "Strip Out" the various Data from the DVD, once Stripped, need to convert to additional formats and then Brought ALL BACK TOGETHER WITH THE NEW FORMATS. Not worth it.

BUT THERE IS ONE PROGRAM CALL "DUP-DVD" $39.99 (US) THAT WILL ACTURALLY COPY A DVD WITH BASICALLY A "ONE CLICK" OPERATION. You can get a Trial Free Download from:

The program takes the DVD and "Converts it to a VCD".
You must have a CD-ROM THAT CAN READ THE DVD.

It will take about 4-5 hours to read and convert the DVD to VCD, so the best time is to start the copying process before bedtime, that way it is ready in the morning to BURN to CD-R. The Burn Time, depending on the BURNER you have is about 8 Minutes.
SINCE VCD DOESN'T SUPPORT ALL THE EXTRA'S ON THE DVD YOU ONLY GET THE MOVIE, NO EXTRAS like Chapter Selection, Director's Cut, Interviews, Games, etc.
THIS SOFTWARE WORKS VERY WELL AND IS "NOT A SCAM" IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS. I Have made copies of almost 24 DVD's using this product. A great additional feature is that if the Original DVD is "WideScreen" you can tell the Software you want your VCD copy in "Full Screen" (No more black bars at the top and bottom of the screen).
I haven't tried this on a KARAOKE DVD, AS ONLY USE CD+G'S AND DON'T BELIEVE THE KARAOKE DVD'S ARE WORTH THE MONEY FOR WHAT YOU GET.
