Does K-oke Still Work?

Prior to upgrading to Hoster 4.03, I tried hoster 4.02 demo version and was able to import zipped files using K-OKE. Now that I purchased 4.03, this feature doesn't seem to work on either computer. All microsoft updates have always been downloaded and installed. I have a desktop with windows XP, and a laptop with Vista.

No zipped songs appear when I open K-OKE. Does it work or am I doing something wrong?

Also, I am not able to figure out how to eliminate the marquee line on the display screen. Is it always there?

Regards, Dave

How do you search for the zips? If you use windows indexed search or google desktop, you could do this.

1. Create a folder on your desktop
2. search for the file with windows search or google desktop
3. double click the zip file
4. highlight both files
5 right click and hit copy
6. without closing that window open the folder you created on the desktop
7. right click and paste (if it doesn't paste, it is a bad zip)
8. Close all the open windows
9. Hit Hoster K-oke button and navigate to the folder (you will only need to do this the first time you open it)
10 Add to the playlist.

I would suggest that after the show you import these files into Hoster and clean out that folder. Then you only have to do this once for each file. After that it will be in you database. You might even create a quick launch for that folder to make it easier to open since you will have 3 windows open by this time. I suspect you could get good enough at this by the 4th or 5th time it would be done in less time than it took me to type this reply.:)

Marklwood, Thanks, your answer is very well researched works fine. It's just a lot of extra work when it was so simple with previous hosters and the hoster 4.02 demo. Maybe the easier way will return as newer releases of hoster become available. I would not be disappointed if it did return.

Dave, Also not answered here was your question on MARQUEE. To stop marquee from showing when singer are singing, double click SHOW button, under LYRICS tab, you will see MARQUEE, check box below that says hide, This is also how to hide on INTERMISSION, AUDIO, And VIDEO tabs. Hope this helps.

Thanks JNS02, It worked but didn't yesterday, but then again, I may have forgotten or overlooked to click the apply button. BTW, I too love hoster, and like you, hate Vista. I almost wish that I could exchange my vista operating system for the stable windows XP. Regards, Dave

That's why I asked about how you searched for them. Previously, you had to know what you were looking for to find it. I suspected that if you had a significant # of zip files, you used some form of search to locate them. You still had to copy and paste to your desktop or somewhere else to easily find them from the add button in Hoster. This is only a couple of extra clicks. And if you go ahead and add those requested songs to Hoster, you will get to a point that all the other files will not be necessary. A pretty good way to lean out your books and only put in what people are actually singing.

Wouldn't it be sweet to be able to add zipped music, audio music, or videos using drag and drop.

Since this (K-oke) is for importing other people's CD tracks, K-oke will not import zipped tracks. MTU is moving toward eliminating all use of zip files as they cause major problems and delays in playing. Audio files can be imported into Hoster now andd added to the songs database, but can also be imported from the Audio button.

Drag & drop, simply means "copying" from one location to another. In Hoster, you only have to press the Import or Add buttons in order to either import/include in database, or simply add a song to a current playlist.
