Hoster 4.02 problems

I loaded the new 4.02 today and still having some of the same problems and more since the files have been converted. Still locking up on cue and lyrics behind music. Had to rebuild data base the second time I opened hoster because it said file was not there. Went back to 3.40 and it want play some of the songs the it did play before. I thought these problems were solved but seams to have more. I need a quick fix fast or I can't do shows.

These problems were solved for most of us. In most cases it turns out to be something not up-to-date or not working correctly on the individual computer.
When 4.02 ran the conversion did you get any error messages for bad zip files? Is it the converted files that won't play? Are they listed in the playlist as HDMP3 or HDZIP?

Please answer Dales questions to help MTU. :w :)

Make a shortcut to this link and put it on your desktop:

C:\Program Files\Micro Tecnologies Ulimited\Hoster\Hoster34.exe

This is Hoster 3.40, a copy of Hoster 3.321 that runs on Hoster 4's data. It is included with Hoster 4.XX If Hoster 4 gives you fits, just click on the shortcut to open 3.40 and carry on. They will run side by side. :w :c

I hope this helps.

I have all updates for XP so that shouldn't have been the problem. All files were converted with no errors.
I messed with it for 2 hours at a show last night and it finally started working right. Checked it this morning and it still seems to be ok. Still don't understand why I had to rebuild the data base when the files were there when I first down loaded the 4.02 and it played them when it first opened. I guess I'll see what happens at tonights show. I pray there is know problems because it looks bad when you can't get your show started.

slingshot August 8th, 2008 09:53 AM

Well I guess I shouldn't have said anything. Checked it again to make sure all was good and it locked up right to start with. Shut it down and restarted and it did it again. Can't have this at tonights show. What can be done?

ddouglass August 8th, 2008 10:06 AM

Try the 3.4 and if it works ok (should) then use it for your show tonight.

slingshot August 8th, 2008 10:14 AM

3.4 seems to be ok for now. I don't know how many songs it will play because last night I was getting an error on some of the songs and it wouldn't play them. Don't know why it was doing that when it did fine before.

Do not use an old playlist for now. Bring up a new playlist and put your selection on that and play your song and see what happen.

More of the same

Having more problems with 4.02. Same hang ups at the end of a song as described.

This morning, tried to add a few new songs and got several error messages, but the most frequent and common is an error 3301 "invalid password" for the buckets.db

This applies to both 4.02 and 3.4, so I have had to remove my hard drive and replace it with the clone that worked last week.

What's causing this error? Never seen it before.

Go to C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases and delete Bucket.mdb from there. This is what is causing your error and the new version of Bucket is stored in C:\MTU\Hoster. Because of all the moving and changing of file locations Hoster looks in all the locations the files have been in to be sure it gets one somewhere.

Bucket problems

Thanks...I'll try that tomorrow and let you know. I did a global search and found only one bucket.db, however.

For tonight's show, we'll use the backup hard drive with the old version of Hoster. That bailed us out last weekend, so I know it's safe & secure.

Keep up the good work...:c

4.02 problems

I was having this same problem as well as a couple others that I have been reading in the forums. I did everything that everyone suggested and could not fix my problems. Finally I uninstalled Hoster completely. Went in to C:\Program Files\Micro Technologies Unlimited and deleted the Hoster folder. I also deleted the the MTU folder in C:\. Re-installed Hoster 4.02, restarted computer, opened Hoster (it automatically did a build songs database). Everything now works great. It took a while but I LIKE IT!!

Hope this helps others to correct some problems

ddouglass August 11th, 2008 12:37 AM

Only thing I can add is if you store your KMA files in C:\MTU\KMA Files then don't delete that folder. Best bet would be to delete C:\MTU\Hoster folder in that case.

How is that going to work? If 4.02 is an upgrade don't you have to have the prior version in the computer for it to load. I don't want to delete the files untill I know for sure I will be able to reload 4.02 and not cause any other problems.

4.02 ia an upgrade because of bug fixes that were made. When you install or reinstall 4.02, the setup program creates all of the files it needs to run. :w

If you bought the upgrade then yes you will have to re-install the prior version first before you re-install 4.02

slingshot August 11th, 2008 10:32 AM

I've already deleted the files and reinstalled just the 4.02. All files are there and it seems to be working fine. It rebuild the data base as soon as I opened Hoster like Tela Harboldke said it did.

Yes, in order to upgrade you must have a prior version in your computer. If you don't, then you must purchase 4.02. And if you don't have a prior version already in your computer, then there would be nothing there to delete. So, what do you mean "reload 4.02", if you didn't have it in the first place? And you never want to just delete any program, you should always use the "uninstall" feature.

Slingshot - sorry, I didn't see that you already answered & re-installed, before I wrote what I did above. Glad everything is working for you!
