3.40 Didn't Work
 

Before last nights show I upgraded my main laptop to 4.02. 4.01 had not been working correctly; crashing lyrics out of sync, etc. So i had been using 3.40.

Began using 4.02 and the first thing I noticed was instead of the lyrics being centered on the singers screen, it was all moved down a step. Some songs the lyrics where being cut off the bottom of the screen. I figured this was just a setup problem. (I don't use singers name's or banner.) Then I noticed the music was getting ahead of the lyrics. At one point the music began stuttering badly. So, I tried to switch over to 3.40. It wouldn't work. It could not recognize any song at all. It acted just like Hoster does if you punched in a song and didn't have you external drive connected.

Fortunately I own a second copy of hoster and have that on my backup latop. I got it out and it's external drive. Hadn't updated to 4.02 yet on that one. 4.01 doesn't work well on that one but the 3.40 did. Got through the night.

Before going to the 4.01 I was using 3.321. No problems at all. I have been an MTU customer for a long time. Both machines are always kept updated in all respects. I'll being trying to figure out more this weekend.

Lyrics being cutoff at the bottom of the screen is usually a resolution problem. What resolution do you have set for your monitor and TV?

1024 x 768. The lyrics being cut off at the bottom was because I think the banner settings may have not been set correctly. I'll play with it this weekend and find out. The other problems I'm not so sure of a solution yet.

Try this, once you've moved the Show Dissplay from your computer monitor to your TV monitor, don't double click on it. Use your mouse to resize the screen manualy. See if this helps.

The out of sync problems should clear if you Restart that song. MTU is looking some more to see if they can catch this random sync problem. As you are playing your songs files, if one goes out of sync, note what type file it is and what the type the previous file was. Post a few of those here and it may help them with chasing this bug down.

Kelly, by "banner" do you mean the "Scrolling Marquee" at the top? IF so, what settings do you think are set wrong?

No matter what font (except Arial Black) or point size you select, it should all work fine. The screens auto-adjust for their contents. Arial Black is a BAD font that does not contain the full "height" data required to set the window height based on the point side for this font selection. DO NOT USE IT!

Didn't mean to imply MTU had anything set wrong. I meant "I" may not have something set right. I don't want to use any type of banner or singers names at this time. Still like just the lyrics. Like I said I'll do some more experimenting this weekend. I'll keep you updated.

Hey Kelly,
To do this, go the the Show Display Setup in Tools. Everywhere you see a box that says "Hide", check it, then hit apply. Be sure to go through all of the Screens (Lyrics, Intermission, Audio DJ ctc...). :w

Okay,

Got my graphics and second monitor going ok. Didn't have my second screen with same setting as my laptop. That was what i figured might be the problem.

Now 4.02 SEEMS so far to be working. BUT, 3.40 still will not work. I close 4.02 and bring up 3.04. Hit play and it says i.e. The "2301" track is missing". It doesn't see any song.

Also when I bring up 3.40, I have two black screens up at my upper left. The second one is almost completely past the top of the screen.

Any ideas?

One is your preview screen and the other you should be able to click and drag to your TV monitor.

Ok, forgot about that. What would cause 3.04 not to see my songs? Sorry, I mean 3.40.

Rebuild your database using Hoster 4.02, close 4.02 and open 3.40 to see if your songs show up. 3.40 uses Hoster 4.02's data so if your data for 4.02 is correct, 3.40 should work correctly.

Try rebuilding the database in 3.4. make sure to check the path to point to your kma song folder(s).

That's the next step. Like Mark said, be sure you have the folder selected that has your KMA files in it. :w

That did it guys! Thanks. Now back to pushin' 4.02 to see if I can get it to mess up!:) I can't complain too much. Been using Hoster since Jan 2003. Been playing at least once a week sometimes three since. Last week was the FIRST time ever that I had to shut down my main laptop and reach for my backup.

:?:?:?Ok, something is really strange. I played 4.02; all was well. Switch to 3.40; couldn't find songs. Redid data base and 3.40 worked fine. Shut off Hoster. Turned 4.02 back on and before it would come up on screen it automatically begin rebuilding data base again. Checked it and it was fine. Switched BACK to 3.40 and it can't find the songs again.

Think it's time to uninstall and reinstall?

Look in your C:\Program Files\Micro Technologied Unlimited\Hoster folder and see what files are in that folder. Do you see a Microsoft Access file called songs or songs_backup?

This should be something simple, don't give up yet.
