Help!

As I am downloading 4.2, it tells me to ensure my internet connection is up and running. When I hit OK, it keeps bringing me back to the same window (Is my internet connection up and running). Obviously it is up and running 'cause I'm talking to you now! I was able to upgrade to 4.01 with no problem. Any ideas???

Restart your computer and try again. The link to 4.02 was delivering 4.01 before today. Are you sure you have 4.02?

Jim. I still having the same problem! What's going on with the 4.02 upgrade????

ddouglass August 6th, 2008 10:20 PM

Is this while your downloading or trying to install?
If this is while you are trying to download what else does the page say?
In other words it is not necessarily your connection to the internet. It could be a link some where between you and the MTU server with thedownloads on it that is down. This server is not located in the same place as the forum computer, so you can get here and not to it.
This may be fixed soon or could be out for a while. If the latter is the case eventually the routing servers for the internet will figure this out and reroute around it. These are things that are out of MTU's control.

When I go to upgrade to 4.02, I start the upgrade process and it tells me I'm upgrading to 4.01?????. Once I've downloaded the upgrade, that's when the problem ocurrs. Make sense?

Just check and the link has gotten changed back to 4.01 this evening for some reason. MTU has been sent notification but nothing can be done until tomorrow morning.

I've had that problem in the past occasionally if I had IE open at the same time as I was trying to install.

Make sure your browser is closed before the install, otherwise it could be as Dale suggested that the server that verifies your registration codes could be down.

I made sure the browser was closed when I tried to install the upgrade. Same problem!

Have you checked to make sure your firewall isn't blocking it. Make sure MTU.Com is allowed. This can also cause this error. Sorry just thought of it. Would be a good idea to add MTU.com to your Trusted Sites to in the IE Internet Options.

MackieRocks August 7th, 2008 10:48 PM

Dale,
I added https://www.mtu.com to my trusted sites and I'm still getting the same results. "Make sure your internet connection is up and running".

ddouglass August 7th, 2008 10:54 PM

What about the firewall? This is separate and accessible through the control panel.

MackieRocks August 8th, 2008 12:29 AM

I guess I don't understand what you're saying :?. Could you be a little more specific regarding the firewall? I have it set to on but don't see where I can make changes to allow MTU different access.

Go toStart/Settings/Control Panel then click on Security Center. At bottom of page click on Windows Fire Wall. When this opens click on Exceptions Tab and look to see if Hoster is listed and the box is checked. If not then click add program, find the Hoster.exe file and add it.
This will allow Hoster to pass through the Firewall without problems.

You need to uncheck the box under the window that says require server verification. Then add Http://MTU.com.

MackieRocks August 8th, 2008 11:33 AM

Dale,
I did everything you suggested and am still getting the following message bervatim.

Hoster - InstallShield Wizard

Please make sure your internet connection is up and running
before continuing.

If you would like to exit now, press 'Cancel'

OK Cancel

Evey time I hit OK, the same message pops up. I'm about ready to lose it!!!

:) Are you using Norton Security by chance? Or perhaps McAfee? If so, try disabling them just long enough to try again and see if that makes it work. What type of internet connection are you using? Dial-up, dsl, cable modem, etc... This may sound totally out of whack to you, but if you open internet explorer and go to the tools menu and select Internet Options, then click on the Delete button under browsing history, then click on Delete All, then select the box that says Also Delete Files and settings... and answer Yes.

This will clear out your cache and could possibly help with your issue.

Hope this helps, like I said it may sound silly but I have seen this clear up a lot of problems with internet connectivity.

Try closing your firewll progam then install 4.02. After the install, reopen your firewall program.

Tryin' to healp.

Safe Mode

:)If none of the suggestions work for you, then re-boot your machine in the “safe mode with networking” and try again…This mode bypasses your virus settings. Once the program loads, reboot in the normal mode.

I want to take this time to thank you guys (especially Dale & MadJim) for taking the time to help me through my problem. You guys are right on!

The problem was Norton's firewall and not Microsoft's firewall!

Thanks again everyone!!!!! Life is good again!
