4.0 - Lyrics Don't Appear

Hi I have just upgraded from Hoster Lite to Hoster 4.0. I have added my songs and updated the database and everything like that. I have clicked on the lyrics tab and loaded a few songs, but the lyrics don't appear when the song plays? In my previous version of hoster I had to have KMA selected but I can't see this in this version. Not sure what to do next. I thought clicking on the lyrics tab would enable the lyrics to be viewed? Please help

Not sure what you mean by having "KMA selected"? The Lyrics tab is for setting up the Lyrics screen to place the Marquee and SND locations or to hide them. You can not have this open when you are playing a song file.
Is the lyrics showing in the preview (upper left corner of main Hoster window)?
What version did you upgrade from?
What operating system?
Do you have all the Custom Updates from Microsoft installed?

jv16PowerTools Registry Cleaner

I was reading in another thread where someone had the same problem after running a registry cleaner. I had recently run the jv16 power tools reg cleaner so I checked the registry backup file in that software ....it had removed two files...

HKCU\Software\MTUDX\

and

HKCU\Software\MTUDX\CDG\

I restored these files and it cured the problem!!

He said he had re-installed Hoster and it had fixed his problem.

Update to SP3. Do you Internet Explorer 7 or 6? What version of Windows Media Player do you have? Both of these components are used by Hoster.

None of the tabs of the Show Display needs to be selected. Open Show Display, set how you want each screen to look including the Preview, then Apply the changes and Close it. If this dialog box is open it will interfere with the playing of the song files. This is why it is greyed out while a song is playing so you can't open it.

To get the updates for Microsoft, click on Start and select Microsoft Updates. This will take you to Microsoft web site. Use the Custom Update and install all of the items, including critcal, optional, software and Hardware updates. This may take several times to get them all installed as some updates require restarting Windows to complete their install.

I missed that one. That is why when you run a registry cleaner you have to check the list of items the cleaner is planning on deleting very carefully.
Glad you found your problem.

Get the rest of the updates from Microsoft and you should be good to go. That is if you haven't run a registry cleaner too, like a2kmike.

batman0001 August 1st, 2008 02:39 AM

have downloaded all of the updates and lyrics still do not appear when playing a song?

Beavis August 1st, 2008 07:31 AM

try reloading hoster

ddouglass August 1st, 2008 10:30 AM

In the Tools/Options there is a button to Reset Displays. Try that before you reload, just to make sure your display is not set to go to a second display.

I've not heard this problem before. :e

Some good, meaty suggestions going on here.

I'd suggest you download and install Hoster 4.02. It is not yet perfect, but it is should be better. We are finding and fixing bugs as you report them.

Also, read my latest Factory News.

BTW... Batman001, (or is that CatWoman), blonds are welcome and respected here. :w

We'll do out best to solve your problem. As I said in another Thread this morning...

When you're up to you armpits in alligators, it hard to remember you were going to a NEW island to plant NEW palm trees!

After 30 years supporting and working with Microsoft, we find ourselves in uncharted waters with today's XP and Vista. As my post in the Factory News Thread indicates, we are divorcing ourselves from Microsoft's DirectX for our lyrics render code, and returning to our 11 year old code that WORKS perfectly! :t
