Anyone had WMA files deleted?

This is really odd. I have a DJ software that I use for non-karaoke music. This particualr laptop is still on Hoster 3.3. All of my album files are on the harddrive, but only tracks 1 through 4. All of the other songs are gone on every album.

This just happened. I didn't just upgrade or anything. A DJ tried to play a song & the software couldn't find it. He knew if was there so he brosed the folder & found only 4 songs on the album. Further checking shows every album has the same problem....Wayne

3.3 what? If it is 3.318 or 3.319 then that could be the problem. Read the announcement put out by admin: http://forum.mtu.com/announcement.php?f=71&a=25

This details ways to recover the files.

This was version 3.30

I have 5 laptops set up & all have versions prior to 3.19

I have had very few problems with any of them until last week. I have read about KMA files getting moved. These are WMA files & are not even in the Songs Database. It is just weird. It is probably not related to Hoster. I changed external hard drives & will see if it happens again.

I just bought 1 upgrade to the current version & installed it on my Desktop (where I do my importing, songbooks, etc). With all of the problems reported, I am a little cautious about putting it on my show computers. I only have Vista on 1 of them, but I don't have time to deal with the problems. Up until last week, I didn't have any....Wayne

better update them all. better have your files backed up too. im pretty sure 3.318 is not good !

did you buy 4.01 ? if so it contains 3.40 which is what you want to run if your not running 4.01

IF you are running Vista, this can "hide" files unexpectedly if they are under:

C:\Program Files\ [anything following]
C:\Documents and Settings\ [anything following]

We had to move our "working files" to C:\MTU to get Vista to leave them alone. :r

BTW: I don't think your WMA file problem is related to Hoster if you are not using 3.318 or 3.319. These could exercise a Windows problem that would trigger Windows to eat files instantly... 65,000 disappeared in a fraction of a second in one case.
