New Installation- says bad Cdrom drive and shuts down

I will work on the Cd drive at a later point, I have everything I need to run a show on an external hard drive and will just not give folks the option to use their own disk if I can just get past this and get up and running.

Any ideas? I already followed the steps to disable the autorun feature, running on a laptop with Windows XP.

Is this the only cd drive you have? When exactly are you getting the error message? And what is it saying?
What version of Hoster?

It is the only cd drive on the lap top. I just installed Hoster4.01 on a lap top with Windows XP. When I try to click on the icon from my desktop to run Hoster, a message pops up telling me to do a test of the cd drive. When that fails to read a CDG disk, I get an error message saying Hoster has encountered a problem and must shut down.

Did you try to open Hoster again? I don't think that it depends on having a working drive. Is there a cancel for the CD testing? If so that should get you by it and into Hoster.
Does it give you an error code when it has to close?
