Have you checked Microsoft tech support (online) to see if there is a way to recover without having to reload? Did you follow the steps in the Microsoft article I sent you and install their patch before you did SP3? |
What does the blue screen say?
No since throwing the baby out with the bath water.

In most cases the cause for this is the drive image (preinstalled or recovery disk) was created on an Intel based machine then deployed on an AMD based computer. This is fast and cheap for the manufacturers but causes a problem with the service pack installation. If your computer is an AMD based computer and the BSOD stop error was 0x00000007E then that is your problem. If you do a reload from a recovery disk you may still be in the same situation as the recovery disk has the same drive image.
If you can boot into safe mode there is a simple fix.
