Error 1706

Near the end of downloading 4.01 I get this message: "error 1706. No valid source could be found for product hoster. The window installer cannot continue."
4.01 finished loading and seems to be working fine.

Thanks
Dan

This has happened to several of us and it always finishes? No cause located yet, but doesn't seem to be detrimental.

:?Confused again! Is 4.1 out? OR are you referring to 4.01?

No. :e

We were having 2-4 spammers "joining" a day, and plastering up to 10 emails each. It was taking me hours to find and delete them all.

Changing to 120 seconds between posts just made it too long for them to wait. They have now disappeared. Ask me in another few months, after they have forgot we exist, and I'll lower to 90 seconds. :)

This is another fallout of being on the Internet so long with active users. Sigh... such is the price for success. :r

Dan, we worked for months trying to track this down. What we found... was a Microsoft "Tutorial" on how to overcome the 1706 error when installing Microsoft Office. :e :r

MTU doesn't stand much of a chance to solve what Microsoft didn't solve themselves with their own Application programs. Some users see it, some don't. Maybe if we see enough posts with facts (which facts I have no clue yet would be helpful), we'll figure it out one day.

1706... Ignore it and continue installing when you see it. Hoster will finish and run.

Admin, That's a shame that you have to spend so much time getting rid of Spammers. I, for one, will try to be more patient in the future.:g

Admin, any way to restrict those who have not purchased the program to one forum, say the Singers and Hosts Wisdom or a new one Pre-purchase Questions?

Beavis July 22nd, 2008 07:31 PM

sorry for jumping ship on this thread.

admin if you want to take my part out of this thread and start a new one, its ok with me.
