Audio Files

Does the current hoster 4.0, have the ability to import mp3 file's to the data base "And Show Them As MP3 Files" when you do a search?

Thanks, Tim

Yes Hoster 4.01 will load audio files and videos into the database. I don't have any in it yet but I believe the right column on the play list will show HDAUD as the type and Videos will show as HDVID.

Dale are you sure about HDVID? I don't think that's been put back in yet.

No I'm not as I don't use any of those either but I know the audio works. I tend to agree with 2shadow, there needs to be some way in the search to identify audio and video. I know you can leave the out of the songbook, but we need a way to pick them out from the karaoke songs in the search.

Importing Video is supposed to be included when 4.1 comes out. With 4.0, you can just Add video to the Playlist just like before.

Tim, as Ddouglass wrote, you can now (4.00/4.01) import MP3, WMA and WAV audio files into Hoster's Songs Database and add them to the Playlist.

Also, as pointed out you can see the file TYPE... in the Playlist after you have added it; no where else. :e

So, we are adding a new field button (Type) in the Search Dialog that would allow you to type in HDAUD (sorry, that's the best we can do right now) and it would show only audio type files.

Now that we allow importing audio into Songs DB, we are considering changing the AUDIO button in the "Find Singer's Song" section, to display a modeless popup dialog that ONLY searches for HDAUD Type files. Then, you could have full Artist, Title, Brand, etc. search capabilities only on audio files.

We could keep the current AUDIO button function (locate an audio file and add it direct to the Playlist), using SHIFT+AUDIO button click. That wouldn't be much of a penalty.

The new Songbook capability allows you to select what TYPE files (list provided) to Include, or Exclude in printed pages. That's another way you could have a "hard copy" of the HDAUD songs, sorted by Title or Artist.

Skybird, we "had" HDVID capability during several Beta Testing phases (while Dale Douglass was away selling a prior house), but it had a fatal flaw. When you played an HDVID file, it took 12 seconds to start playing, and there was nothing we could do to shorten that... and it doubled the hard drive requirements for these already "BIG" files. :e

So... we are totally restructuring how we "identify" Video files into the Songs Database. We will create a "MTU TYPE" 1KByte file with the same name as the video file it references, and save these in the same folder with the video files.

1. This is expected to take about 1 second per 3-5 video files to index, we will use the Filename as the Title, and Video as the Artist, and... it will only take an additional 1KBytes per video file, not the full file duplicated again. :c

You WILL be able to use Edit Songs to change the parameters (including Artist) if you want.

We will be starting on this shortly, as we are now ironing out the wrinkles that are appearing in 4.01. :r :c

Admin, so does this mean that after you finish "ironing out the wrinkles" on 4.01, that we should be able to "Import Video" files in 4.1? That's GREAT NEWS!:)

Thank everyone, for the info. I'm currently reloading all my CDG's so I can have a clean database to trainsfer in a few weeks. I think I'll add my playback music along with.

Thanks, Tim

I couldn't find anything in your post's indicating problems with your kma's. Why reload all your CDG's? Unless you wanted to go with a custom numbering scheme for your songs.

O nothing wrong with my KMA's, But I have lost a few discs over the years so I'm weeding out the music I no longer have a hard copy for. Also I'm loading them in the order in which I have them in storage case so the book id will match the case numbers as well.

Tim
