Tim, as Ddouglass wrote, you can now (4.00/4.01) import MP3, WMA and WAV audio files into Hoster's Songs Database and add them to the Playlist.
Also, as pointed out you can see the file TYPE... in the Playlist after you have added it; no where else. :e
So, we are adding a new field button (Type) in the Search Dialog that would allow you to type in HDAUD (sorry, that's the best we can do right now) and it would show only audio type files.
Now that we allow importing audio into Songs DB, we are considering changing the AUDIO button in the "Find Singer's Song" section, to display a modeless popup dialog that ONLY searches for HDAUD Type files. Then, you could have full Artist, Title, Brand, etc. search capabilities only on audio files.
We could keep the current AUDIO button function (locate an audio file and add it direct to the Playlist), using SHIFT+AUDIO button click. That wouldn't be much of a penalty.
The new Songbook capability allows you to select what TYPE files (list provided) to Include, or Exclude in printed pages. That's another way you could have a "hard copy" of the HDAUD songs, sorted by Title or Artist.

Importing Video is supposed to be included when 4.1 comes out. With 4.0, you can just Add video to the Playlist just like before.

Skybird, we "had" HDVID capability during several Beta Testing phases (while Dale Douglass was away selling a prior house), but it had a fatal flaw. When you played an HDVID file, it took 12 seconds to start playing, and there was nothing we could do to shorten that... and it doubled the hard drive requirements for these already "BIG" files. :e
So... we are totally restructuring how we "identify" Video files into the Songs Database. We will create a "MTU TYPE" 1KByte file with the same name as the video file it references, and save these in the same folder with the video files.
1. This is expected to take about 1 second per 3-5 video files to index, we will use the Filename as the Title, and Video as the Artist, and... it will only take an additional 1KBytes per video file, not the full file duplicated again. :c
You WILL be able to use Edit Songs to change the parameters (including Artist) if you want.
We will be starting on this shortly, as we are now ironing out the wrinkles that are appearing in 4.01. :r :c
