Skybird,

The testing I did went very well. I've been running my shows with the latest beta versions of 4.0 for two weeks now and my singers love it (ME TOO!). 4.0 IS EVERYTHING THEY SAY AND MORE. Be ready, be very very ready! :w :g :c

Jim :g

(I don't feel I'm qualified to speak on behalf of admin but they (MTU) have been working around the clock to get 4.0 released and they have to sleep sometime. :r :w :) ADMIN, please forgive me if I over stepped my bounds here but running my shows with 4.0 for two weeks has me excited and I have to share! :g)

:) Hey Jim, just out of curiosity is it true that you only have 512k of ram on the machines you are running 4.0 beta on? I was just curious to know if a ram increase might be needed for the new version. Thanks, Henry

1 gig is recommended, But 2 Gig is my preference.

Must Have IE7 And Media Player 11 or 12 installed.....

Yes it's ture but keep a few things in mind.

!. I do not use Windows Media Player during my shows.

2. I do not use PCDJ

3. I do not run videos during my shows.

If these points apply to you you CAN run 4.0 with 512 of ram but I would do as Gary and MTU suggest and get more ram to insure that 4.0 runs well for you under all conditions.

Jim, sounds like the program on stage is working good. But what about importing Videos???? Have you tried this? I have hundreds of videos that need to be added. It's time consuming to use WMP to look them up while doing a Show & the singers never check that list in the back of the book. Several times, I have discovered that some songs were available on video, that the singers asked for but I didn't have time to look up for them.

Thanks Jim. I have 1g on one and 1.5g on the other. I also have a new laptop with 2g and Windows XP just in case. I am pleased to hear that it will run with 512 without all the other things running. I pretty much just use hoster during my shows. Sincerely, Henry

:sSorry Jim - I see you don't run videos in your show, so you would not have tested that import feature!!!:s

Guess I'll just have to be a little more patient:t

Also since IE7 & Windows Media 11 or 12 are required means XP is the only platform to run on. Windows 2000 & below are no longer able to work with 4.0.

Skybird74 July 15th, 2008 05:25 PM

I updated my older XP laptop with SP3 and IE7, so I can install 4.0 and practice on it. If I use that computer to Import my video files, will I be able to copy the database onto my Vista so that I can least find and play my video files from within the Search feature? (all my KMAs are kep on an ext. hd)

madjim- with the Lord July 15th, 2008 05:55 PM

Skybird,

I have four wmv files that I had to make to get around the sound choice media block. I rarely get a request to sing them since one of my singers moved.

In a effort to help you out, I tried to import one of my wmv file and see where the "Import Video Files" feature is going to be in 4.10 .

I know it's hard to wait for a new feature that you've been wanting, I've been waiting for the time a singer sings to be calculated for a little less than a year now. It's here and it was worth the wait, you won't be dissapointed with 4.0, hang in there.

Well, we've been waiting for the ability to save Singer's songs for almost 3 years too!!!!!!!!!

I'm still wondering if I will be able to import with Xp and then copy the database to Vista & be able to access the Songs from the Search feature????????

Looks like I just need to wait & then ask questions later:?

My singers love this feature. I can see why it was asked for years ago.

It's not hype, 4.0 is great. I know. I used it for my show last night. My singers love the Singer Databse and the Estimated Time they sing features. There are alot of bases MTU has to cover before a new version of a program can be released. You won't be disappointed, hang in there. They want you to have it as much as you want it. :w :) :c
