Error creating KMA file

I have a durabook laptop purchased from MTU with windows xp home addition. I recently updated to Hoster 3.321. Since then I have only been able to download one disc. I have purchased soundchoice, chartbuster, and quick hitz discs. I am trying to save them to my songs file in my f drive which is an external drive on which I downloaded all my other discs using the earlier edition of hoster. The Program copies the track, writes KMA file, then gives me "error writing KMA file. What am I doing wrong? :?

And he doesn't by the Auto Update. Have you done the Custom Updates from the Microsoft Update web page?
Did you set the import CD screen to save to your F: drive?
Can you see the F: drive in Windows explorer?
Or did it change drive letters when you attached it to the laptop?

I have done the custom updates. I can see the hard drive. It is the same drive I have been using. It worked fine until I updated to 3.321. I bought two soundchoice discs after I updated and downloaded one . I could not download the other one. I have bought two chartbuster and one other disc since and cannot download them either. I can download them to the play list but not to the hard drive. I am at a loss.

The fact that you imported one disk before the problems started tend to indicate your upgrade to 3.321 was a coincidence rather than a cause.

To rule out a problem with the external drive I would try and import something into your C: drive.

May sound trivial, and forgive me if it is something you've already checked, but are you sure the external drive is not full?

I am able to download to my "C" drive. My external drive is only 6 mo old and I have 40,000 songs on it. It is a 500gb Iomega with 317gb free space. I Just came from doing a show with and it works fine so why can't I add new songs to it?

ddouglass July 6th, 2008 11:40 PM

Information wasn't correct. Edited out.

Go to My Computer, right click on the drive and make sure it hasn't changed to Read Only. Check the Folder where you store your files for the same thing.

Just because you can read to it doesn't necesarily mean you can write to it (though I haven't heard of that before). I've had HD drives go bad in under a years time before so age isn't really an indicator. Something else you could try is saving a small text file or something else to the drive and see if it will, or try editing one of your kma's info.

transfer all the info on the external drive to the c: drive, then reformat the external drive. make sure you select NTSF when reformatting.
