I think you may mean firmware.
If so, go to windows update and choose custom update, not express.
You need a driver update for your CD burner.

Driver Update for CD Burner

Hi Mark,
Windows update has no option for custom or express. Also how do I find the driver for the cd burner? Guess you can tell I'm a bit illiterate. I'm sorry. I really appreciate the help.

The above address is where you go for the Updates. The Custom Updates will not fix the firmware, but needs to be done for Microstudio to work right, so do this step too.

What type of drive is it? (Microstudio will tell you in Tools/ Default Drive)

Firmware is the "software" program on your drive that allows it to communicate with the computer. This has to be gotten from the manufacturer of the drive itself and is specific to the model. This is why I asked for the drive information.

I had 3.0 or earlier, but few of my disc's are on the computer.

My burner is external a plexor PX-716A, I tried to find out by e-mail if it was still an ojay burner for vista but couldn't get an answer. It may have been cheaper to have ordered it too. My software is Plexwriter Rev 2.02.

Thank you so much for taking the time to assist me with them, you are a very kind person. Karen

Here is the link to the latest firmware update for your internal drive:
http://support.us.dell.com/support/d...&fileid=215046

And here is the link to the latest firmware update for your Plextor:
http://www.plextor.com/english/suppo...s/firm_716.htm

Is the Plextor not showing in the Default Drives list?
From what I saw in my search for your internal drive, there are a lot of programs that have trouble with that particular drive, so I would definately recommend using the Plextor for your file imports and burning. After you upgrade the firmware that is.

No it isn't showing, it should show an F Drive but its not in Microstudio, Karen :)

Is it showing in Windows Explorer?
