Hoster ignores some KMA files
Hoster 3.321 is ignoring about 25% of my kma files. They don't show up in search or my songbooks. Explorer can find them and Microstudio 4.006 can find and play them. Can anyone help with this? Please. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 on an IBM ThinkPad.

Update
Custom Update Your Version Of Windows current update of XP is SP3
don't know if that will help but updating is important. Dick |

Tools menu > Build Songs Database command. Click the Add Folders button, and locate all those KMA folders you can play in Microstudio, adding them into the List window. When done, click the Build Songs Database button at the bottom of the dialog. |
still not working
All of my KMA files are in the same folder. Hoster is skipping some songs but not all songs from any one disk. I have rebuilt the database, it doesn't help. Also I made a mistake in that the ThinkPad is running SP3. My desktop is not having this problem and it is running SP2.

Are you getting any error messages about duplicate bookids when you run the rebuild?

one way
I have found one way to restore these files but it is very time consuming. Hoster won't reimport any song from an affected disk (error says book ID in use please select another. But I can't change that field). The only way to reimport that works is: First delete all songs from the affected disk, then build songs dadabase, then import tracks as though it is for the first time. That would be OK but there are about 150 partialy affected disks. It will take forever this way.

no duplicate book id errors but it does say there are duplicate files.

my mistake
Sorry I see now that I do have duplicate book id's. There are 2,497 of them down from over 3,000 that were there before I started reimporting my CD's. Actualy that explains for me why hoster is acting this way when trying to reimport. Is there an easier way to correct this problem?

:) Click the Tools menu Merge KMA Files command to add KMA files on your hard drive into your existing Songs Database that were not imported directly. This preserves your current Songs Database and printed Song Books while adding new KMA files that were not imported directly into the Songs Database.
While merging, if a BookID is found that already exist in the Songs Database, the BookID in the KMA header of the file being merged is renumbered to the lowest free BookID available. This is from the Hoster Manual and I believe it will fix your problem. |
