Display Lyrics Lagging

Help please! I have Hoster 3.321. My laptop computer (which I just purchased in March brand new from Dell) is a Dell Inspirion 1520 with 4 gigs memory, 2 ghz core 2 duo processor, Invidia GeForce 8400M GS video and Windows Vista Home Basic. Oh and DirectX is v10. I think that should about cover my whole puter.

I have seached all through the manual and all through the forums and I can't find any examples of this concerning Hoster. (My Hoster is full version not the lite version).

Now that you know that...here is my issue. When playing my karaoke songs I am experiencing lag.

Example:
First, if all the lyrics on the screen are sung and disappear before any new lyrics come on the screen....it works fine.

However, if the song comes up with say 5 lines of lyrics, the singer sings the first 3 lines, starts 4th line and Hoster removes the first 3 lines and starts putting up the next few lines then the lyrics start lagging behind the music. The longer you play the song...the worse the lag gets. By the time you finish singing the song, you are off by like 5 "pages" of lyrics.

I really hope I explained that well enough. It is difficult to explain without actually seeing it happen. If any of you wonderful people out there can help me correct this problem, I would just have to love you forever!

Thank you in advance for any and all help in correcting this matter!

Sincerely,
Jackie

P.S. I also updated the IDE driver. I didn't notice any change.

According to Dell Support there is an update driver for your video card that they released in March which with your purchase date would tell me it probably isn't loaded on your laptop.I would also highly recommend that you go to Microsoft's Windows Update page, do the "Custom" update and install all that they have for your computer. The Auto Update only installs items deemed as "critical" by Microsoft and leaves a lot of updates out.

Lyrics Lagging

Thank you. I updated the Dell driver for my video card and I also installed any and all available updates but it is still lagging. Could it be anything else???

I appreciate the help! :)

OK...here we go. I did the updates as I stated before and it appears it has helped so long as I DON'T hook up an external display. If I hook up the external display it lags the lyrics on both the external display and the computer. It is almost like the external display is too much of a pull on power. But that don't make any sense to me as the t.v. power comes from an outlet just like anything else. The only thing the t.v. takes from the computer is the graphics.

Any thoughts?????? PLEASE???

Thank you!

what do you use after the wire comes out of the laptop ?

jake7471 May 9th, 2008 01:37 PM

I have an s-video cord that come from my computer to the external display. I have also tried going from s-video from my puter to an rca to tv.

Beavis May 9th, 2008 02:43 PM

did you try a rf moduator ?

swany May 9th, 2008 02:57 PM

Something to do with the video settings I believe. Can't remember for sure. Go to your display settings and set them to the highest.

jake7471 May 9th, 2008 02:59 PM

The lag got worse when I hooked up the RF Modulator. Weird, I know.

Beavis May 9th, 2008 03:12 PM

i thought there was a setting in hoster for the lagging ??

i dont have my show computer in front of me right now though.

jake7471 May 9th, 2008 03:33 PM

so far I have found nothing to correct it.

Beavis May 9th, 2008 04:00 PM

are you up to date with windows updates ??

jake7471 May 9th, 2008 04:01 PM

yes I did ALL updates.

Beavis May 9th, 2008 04:08 PM

did you read this ??

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?...hlight=lagging

jake7471 May 9th, 2008 07:01 PM

I have read it and it looks like I will be calling Dell and possibly sending my puter back to them to either fix or have XP put on it.

Thank you to all for your help in this matter! You guys are the best!!!

Jackie

Great detail Jackie! Congrats on that point.

Hoster is a PLAYER. What you describe here FIRST makes me believe the actual CDG lyrics from the disc are out of sync with the music.

All the other things you have tried, updating Windows using CUSTOM (not Express), and downloading the latest Dell Graphics drivers are the other causes of this.

If you think about your later statements that changing the RF converter made a change in the delay, this can only be a fixed offset, not a variable offset as you describe above. If it were variable, the RF converter would have to be saving the signal somewhere in a delay memory and that's just not happening. :r :w

Now you know why we build, certify and sell CDG computers. We solve all the headaches before we ship to you. Just today, we discovered a new problem we had never seen before with a difference of almost 4:1 slower importing CDG disc tracks on one laptop versus another. Go figure! :r We told our customer in Hawaii we can't ship yet, and he's being very patient, knowing it will be right when we ship.

Thank you Admin for the compliment. I figured by giving any and all details humanly possible would save a lot of un-necessary question asking such as what os you're using, what you puter has in it, etc.

As for the other problem. It is still a mystery. What we are going to do is contact Dell and have them either put Windows XP on this puter or have them exchange it for one that is identical to our other puter.

So, now the problem is in their hands. :)

Thanks again for all the help!!!
