Adding Additional song to Hoster 3.321 using Vista

Hello. I have somewhat recover my KMA collection after my Vista collision with Hoster 3.217. I have Hoster 3.321 now. Here is my question.

Example: Inside my folder located at "Computer, OS C:, MTU, KMA FILE.
I have 17738 .kma songs in the Kma file.

I go through the normal process of adding "lets say" 700 more .kma songs.
QUESTION: WHAT FILE DOES THESE 700 kma songs go into?

The reason that I ask this is that I did add 700 more songs and when I "Built Song Database", this action only found the 17738 kma songs.

FYI. I have UAC turned off.
Another question: With so many threads out their in regards to the Vista situation, which thread is the best one to read to get the latest on how we should attack this Vista to Hoster 3.321 issue. Thanks

When you load the disk in it gives you the location where it is going in that window. You can at that time change where it goes, on your hard drive.

good idea.

Good idea. When I add songs to Hoster, they are zip files that are be changed to .kma's. But he is another issue that is still out there!

Follow closely!
I want to import tracks so I:
Select "Import Tracks" on top left of the main hoster window.
The drop down gives you two selections, "IMPORT CD TRACKS" and "IMPORT HARD DRIVE FILES".
Let's chose "IMPORT CD TRACKS". A new window named "IMPORT CD TRACKS" opens up.
On this window, find the "SAVE TO FOLDER" button and its window. My window shows "MTU\SONGS\.
[b] ISSUE!!![b] Push "SAVE TO FOLDER" button. The new window show be titled "Choose folder" and the folder selected should be "songs". The issue is that the "songs folder is still linked to the troubled area in Vista that is hiding your songs when its wants to. The full link to the "songs" folder is:
"DESKTOP, PUBLIC folder, PUBLIC MUSIC, MTU, SONGS".

Inside this folder I found my missing 700 kma songs!!! I even done a full computer search and it did not find the 700 missing kma songs in this location!

[b]RECOMMENDATION: The "SAVE TO FOLDER" button needs to default to where you are storing your kma songs!

And FYI, "IMPORT HARD DRIVE FILES" takes you to the same crazy place.

I am not a expert on this Vista/Hoster issue but I think there is still a issue even with 3.321. If my thoughts are in error, please correct and educate me.
Thanks!

"DESKTOP, PUBLIC folder, PUBLIC MUSIC, MTU, SONGS".
That is where all your kma files should be not just the 700.

Move them and rebuild your database. Word of caution, back it up to an outboard source including the 700 in the right spot before you move the 17K. If you have them files on C: in Program files they might disappear on you. Once you move them all your files will appear when and where you want them. I've went through the search for files on hard drive scenario on and older hoster version and Vista. I can find all of mine but it is a hassle, to do so. The newest version and having your kma files in the public music makes everything warm and fuzzy.

If you change the "Save to Folder" in the Import from CD screen it will use that new folder from then until you change it again. You have to do the same thing in the Import from Hard Drive screen. Each are independent settings.
The correct folder if you are using the C: drive for storing KMA files should be C:\MTU\KMA Files (where your 17,738 are located if I am reading your first post right.

moving kma files in Vista now.

Hello. I was going to put all my my kma files into the location that Swany recommended in the thread below. Is this correct? I don't want the kma's disappearing again.

I add songs frequently and backing up to a external hard drive after adding songs every time is a pain. My laptop can load tons of kma's and that is why I bought so much hard drives is to get away from carrying a external hard drive to gigs. Thanks

The location set up as the default location in Hoster is C:\MTU\KMA Files. You can put them in any folder you want as long as it isn't in the Program Files area or the Documents and Settings area (Vista doesn't like that and that was part of the reason they were hidden). Version 3.321 set Hoster to run as administrator so that files won't be hidden from it.
As far as backing up to an external drive goes, this is highly recommended to prevent losing them as you have already experienced. Even if you use the C: drive for your shows and leave the external at home you will have a back up copy in case of computer crash problems.

understand now

Thanks fellas. I understand where not to put them, and I will adjust the path in hoster to where I did put the kma's. I trust Hoster alot, however I do backup to a external hard drive alot! Thank goodness that I had a backup for this situation! This will wrap this subject for me unless someone wants to add threads later on. Thanks!
