Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

Please only post Video Hoster 5.05 bugs here. :w

We released 5.05 to restore merging duplicate BookIDs. The other changes are below:

<ol>
<li><strong>RESTORED Merge Duplicate BookIDs Function</strong> - This is now in &quot;Import Songs&quot; menu - Import & Index Songs Database dialog, and the Build Songs Database dialog. If any duplicate BookIDs are found when using the <strong>Add Folder</strong> or <strong>Refresh Folder</strong> buttons, those songs are saved. Clicking either <strong>Merge Dupes</strong> buttons shows a dialog to select the starting BookID or let the next unused be assigned, and then the Merge Now button renumbers the BookIDs.</li>
<li><strong>FIXED - Preview Display Wrong Size or Disappears when Floating</strong> - When the Preview Display is undocked in the Tools menu - Show Display command, Preview tab, it randomly would take on the size and location of the Show Display, which usually appears in the second monitor. This made it appear that the Preview Display disappeared. We found a bug causing this and the Preview Display should now keep its own size and location settings.</li>
<li><strong>CHANGED - Import CD Tracks Screen</strong> - Whenever a CDG Disc is changed in the drive, Hoster now clears the Brand and DiscID fields. This insures users don't accidentally reuse the wrong Brand or DiscID for multiple discs.</li>
<li><strong>REMOVED - Edit Songs Dialog Edit BookID</strong> - <span class="red" style="background:yellow">We no longer allow editing a BookID</span>. The Singers Database uses BookIDs to add Songs under Singers. Thus, changing a BookID used in the Songs Database causes problems that are very hard to diagnose. Once you assign a bookID to a song, it is permanent.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Genre Additions</strong>: Reggaeton, Cumbia, Ranchera, Tejano, Norteno, Shotiz, Bachata, Romance.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Detect URL in a Message While Installing</strong> - Multiple messages can appear during installation to guide you. We can now include web page URLs that the Installation program now detects and launches your browser for more details to show how to fix this error.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Detect URL in Check Version Upgrades Message</strong> - If we include a web page address (URL) in an &quot;Check for upgrade message&quot;, Hoster will launch your default Browser to show that page. This allows us to give you more information about upgrades, newsletters, etc.</li>
</ol>

You can download version 5.05 from: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm

This should be a safe version to upgrade. The changes were minimal and 4 beta versions were tested by our International Testing Team.

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports Left Multiplex

When a song has left multiplex and is indicated as such, there is a problem with the use of the VOCAL - NO VOCAL Button. When the song is selected from the song list it will open with the multiplex button indicating VOCAL and no vocal can be heard which would be normal. If the VOCAL button is clicked the NO VOCAL button will appear, but no multiplex vocal will be heard. If the NO VOCAL button is clicked than the VOCAL button will appear and the vocal will now be heard. To turn the multiplex off the VOCAL button has to be clicked.

If a song with the multiplex on the left is edited to change the multiplex to right, then when the song starts, so will the vocal. The VOCAL button has to be clicked to turn off the vocal.

Once again, most of my multiplex songs have the multiplex vocal on the right, so I only have a few problems with the left multiplex songs.

The way it is supposed to work is in Tools menu Edit Songs dialog, if you select the vocal to be on the left or right, whichever is correct for that song, then when it goes to play, the non-vocal channel should automatically play so you don't hear the vocals.

Be sure you select the correct Left or Right radio button in Edit Songs, they try to play the song. :w

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

I know all about how to correctly select the left and right multiplex in edit.

What I tried to point out in my message is when there is a LEFT MUX song and the VOCAL button is clicked to activate the vocal, the VOCAL button changes to NO VOCAL, but the vocal doesn't play. At this time the vocal should be playing. When the NO VOCAL button is then clicked it goes back to VOCAL and the left vocal will then play. To turn off the left vocal, the VOCAL has to be pushed again.

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

I don't have any songs with the vocal on the left channel so can't test what you are saying.
But have you checked that they are not indexed as left by mistake and should be set as right ? Just try changing one in the edit dialog to multyplex right channel first.

If what you are saying is correct, could you zip one up and attach it to your post for us to test with ?

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

In the Search Songs Database window why doesn't the song search and singer entries reset to blank after adding the song to playlist as they used to in prior versions of Hoster?

It highlights the entire field when you click it so as soon as you type it starts fresh.

I believe it worked better when it blanked the fields after entry

It really doesn't work any differently either way - comes up blank, place cursor, you type new search.
Highlights box with a click to place cursor, you type new search.

Lonman, I think a2kMike is accurate, depending which version is being used ( In this case 5.05 ) because the cursor only recently returned the highlight / focus without an extra mouse-click, and I found myself, having to return with an extra click to erase the two searches that were added together. ie. book i.d. + Artist ) looked like this "1909beatles", instead of "1909", entry to playlist, and cursor/focus returned for second search "beatles" when typed would search just like my little brain intended it to!:w:g

a2kMike, the latest version that we are beta testing right now, returns the highlight after entry is made to playlist, and you won't have the above problem that you are experiencing in 5.05!:w

A little more patience... look for 5.06 to be released shortly!:)

thanks Rikki Tikki for the info on this function being fixed in v5.06....been using this Hoster thingy quite a while and recognize these small bumps in the road that are sometimes quite aggravating whilst using Hoster on a busy night
