KMA Files

I have upgraded to a new laptop and want to transfer old KMA files to a new external hard drive. What file should they be transferred to so I can then rebuild the database?

It has been since 2009 since I have done any of this and have purchased the latest version of Hoster and everything appears to be different. The help manual seems to skip over this step.

Were they on an external before ?

If so just copy the folder to the new drive, when you plug it in check that the volume letter matches the old.

If not Follow these MTU instructions to change the drive letter http://blog.mtu.com/video-hoster/207

Windows 10 to find control panel right click windows icon select search and type “control panel” then follow the rest of the instructions.

Alternatively if your starting from scratch and have not copied your original songs.mdb to your new computer you can leave the drive letter at its default, open the Build songs database and use the Add folder or Add folder/subfolders buttons then navigate to the folder containing the kma files make sure you open it to see all the KMA files then press select, that will build them straight into your database.
Don’t do this if you already copied your original songs.mdb or you may get a load of duplicate errors.

Did your previous version of Hoster have the Backup/Restore function?
It would have been found from the Help menu this would make your new computer a clone of your old one.

Re: KMA Files

They don’t need to be in a Hoster folder if they are on an external drive. You can just create a folder and name what you like, example “My Kma Files”

Re: KMA Files

Sorry I\'m confused. I have them on an external drive how do I get hoster to find them? There has to be a process where I get them in the database where it can see them.

Simply having them on the hard drive will not make them visible to hoster. I guess I\'m missing something here.

Repeated from post #2:

Open Tools menu/ Songs Database/Build Database/ and use the Add folder or Add folder/subfolders buttons then navigate to the folder containing the kma files make sure you open it to see all the KMA files then press select, that will build them straight into your database.

Re: KMA Files

This is why Hoster needs a simple COMPLETE backup and restore function. It may take a long time to do a complete backup but so what.
