Just getting started.

I recenty purchased a Toshiba laptp, and Hoster.
Unfortunate that the burner in the laptop isn't compatible...:f
A certified external has been ordered, in the meantime i've been uploading the DJ music (WMA) into an external drive.
My collection went in just fine (the music i normally play inbetween rounds )
However, when i started uploading " The Bar's " DJ music collection...
the tracks appear as Track 01...Track 02... and so on.
i have " The Bar"s " DJ Book to help me type the titles in by hand,
but is there any other way to solve this problem?
any suggestions appreciated.:g 250 CD's with 20 tracks each...thats a lot
of typing :?

SO...Thats the way it is here ?
Forgive me for taking up bandwidth on the boards...i asked ... what i thought was a legitamite question...so much for the "education " posts.
i have read **** near every thread on here. The "Vets " offer up some good
advice.
but i guess you have to be all about the I... thing to fit in.
i am not about the I thing... just trying to make a bad system work.
thats cool though...i'll get it figured out.
i appreciate all 15 of your " Views" ... and not a single reply....
made me feel very welcome here.
Peas Out

Hey lighten up. I'm sure if those 15 (I see it's up to eighteen now) people had something of substance to offer they would have... or.... maybe no one was in the mood to get into a debate about pirateing your bars music???

When looking for advice about stealing intellectual property this isn't the best board to use.

You could try Itunes.

Jer,

ADMIN EDIT: If you own your CDG discs, you can import them legally based on everything we are aware of (click here for details).

I gather from your post that you have no DJ collection of your own.

If that's the case there are still legal options open to you.

Not necessarily in any order of preference.

1-Buy your own discs and get in the business.

2-Continue to use the Bar's library and treat them the same as customer owned discs and import them one track at a time into Hoster as Temporary KMA files,as requested by patrons ...lot of work.

3-Buy the bar owner's discs from them at fair market value and import them into Hoster. Don't plan on selling them back without deleting the files from your hard drive. That won't wash.

4-Sell the bar owner the laptop and burner and become a paid employee of the establishment.

Remember now, you asked for solutions. These are the only legal options I can come up with.

Someone else may have some other ideas.

I was one of those who viewed your post and didn't respond. I didn't think you'd like anything I had to offer.

George

Jerndeb, this "Singers and Hosts Open Forum" is a FREE Forum. If you ask questions about LEGAL operations, you MAY get a good discussion going. It also depends on the day you post, the week and month, and the subject. If you have read many posts as you claim, then you should have discerned what types of attempts to start an open discussion get answered.

I stongly suggest you read the legal issues on our site. If you are importing songs that you don't own, you are in violation of our End User License Agreement. Be VERY CAREFUL what you post if it is illegal. This industry is cleaning up its illegal past, including illegal Producers being driven out of business. Those making a living on DJ/KJ are becoming legal or moving to other industries where laws are not as involved.

Your second post didn't win you any friends. Insulting a product you bought in the Vendor's Free Forum, is generally not a good idea. By and large, the members here are VERY LEGAL, and generally don't participate in MTU bashing without facts to agree/disagree with. I rarely post in this Open Forum, but felt your second post warranted my comment. :w

THANK YOU.

I'm pretty new to this, and i thought that might be the situation i was in.
Sorry I didn't go about asking the question correctly enough the first time.
MY collection is fine... and growing by the week....
My ability to use the program is growing by the DAY....
can't wait to get the external burner... find out how illegal all that stuff is :f
( that stuff being the bar's karaoke collection )
Education only works if the teachers are speaking....
thanks again for the input, I will resolve the problem
Jer
EDIT : side note...
My ORIGINAL Post was about DJ music.
I did not bash MTU, OR the Product. If you took it that way, I Am sorry.( the bad system i was speaking of was the bars audio/karaoke system. )
I DID, however, use a nasty open forum post to get a response.
For that ,I am aslo sorry, but needed the input before spending 2000 hours on
a fruitless project.
I will resolve the problem.

I would like to commend Jerndebs response. Very professional and friendly as well.

I am a teacher, education works even better when students show up for class, then I do little speaking.

Lil humor there, thats all!:w

We all appreciate the clarification. Just goes to show that in Forums you must be real careful and be sure there is no "interpretation" left up to the reader, especially when negatives are involved. Forgive my interpreting your meaning incorrectly. :s

Update

( like you really care )
after a drawn out conversataion... with the owner of the bar..
the Boss just wants to sell drinks... thats a given....so that makes MY job... plaY music that keeps people around to BUY those drinks.....
I Dumped the book that i was handed....
that means i discarded 300 NOT QUITE LEGAL
cd's ... I purchased what titles i needed. ( About 500 songs )..and moved ON.( My collection is growing )

KARAOKE wise... this progrm kicks .
Almost all ..the CDG's were on there.... i dumped 4 cd's...( out of 300... thats pretty cool ratio)
The sound quality .. is outstanding... i didn't realize how BAD the discs were getting.
Above " The Bar " ... there are 15 appartments...( not owned by "The Bar"... just happens to be the way the building ended up )
10 of the 15 people made comments about how much "quieter "
my Saturday night gig was. 9pm head count was the lowest... 48 people.
quality ... quality... quality.
Again , I apologize , for my first couple of foolish posts.
Jer
:r
( no attitude... MUCH Grattitude )

Don't believe so, but could be wrong?

DougC June 8th, 2006 02:19 PM

You are correct, no songs are preloaded on the ruggedized Hoster Laptops, unfortunately :f ...

We are working on it, but licensing and publishers are very slow to catch up with the times.
