Problem New 3.0

New version reads and plays fine. It even seems to copy fine. But I cannot get it to write. I get the error "Writing To CD Failed." I have used MTU software for years now so I'm not exactly a novice. No problem with older version.

I have tried different makes of CD. (Even the ones I got from MTU) Tried different speeds and still it won't write.

Is there anything I need to set up different on the computer that would be different than what the past version required. As yes I have all windows updates.

Thanks,

Kelly:?

Put question in another place.

ddouglass November 1st, 2006 10:00 PM

Kelly what drive do you have? We did have a few that had problems when testing.

kedmison November 2nd, 2006 03:28 AM

External USB Plextor PX-716A.

Kelly, what firmware version does you Plextor 716 drive have? You can view this in the Tools menu Default Drives command.

kedmison November 2nd, 2006 10:01 AM

Firware version 1.09.

Upgraded to ver 1.10. Tried again and still get "Writing to CD failed."

ADMIN

All You had to do was delete my last two lines, which I expected. The rest was a valid post from a customer, or don't I even count as a customer anymore?

I'm having a problem with two drives at the writing stage, just as Kelly is, only they act as though the media is no good, and ejects before any writing appears to start.

Kelly and George,
When you installed the new version did you Upgrade or Remove (old version)?
At one point in testing we had to Remove the old version and Install the new. And if my memory serves me correctly (which it doesn't sometimes) that was when the write function began working again. Could be some leftover registry or dll code from old version that is messing things up.

kedmison November 2nd, 2006 10:41 AM

ddouglass,

No, I didn't remove the old, just installed the new. So,...help me remember; How do I remove it?

Thanks for your help!

Kelly

Option in installation. Run the setup program and choose to Remove. The run the setup program again and install (no option 2nd time).

Microstudio has to be removed an reinstalled. That is why it requires the new registration number. if you just upgraded, something is wrong!!!!

Not sure but new registration number may have been just for us to test the registration changes. However, I do believe it will require a remove and re-install to get those drive settings corrected. This needs to be noted (large type) on the News and Product pages, so everyone does it.:g

George November 2nd, 2006 11:38 AM

I didn't upgrade.

I'm using the demo, which installs without affecting the existing program.

Sorry George,
I didnt read your post that said that. I assumed you had got the full version.

Nothing to apologize for. Not your fault.

Take care,
George

ddouglas,

Apparently I misunderstood your question about unistalling. Yes. I always unistall the old version (of Hoster or Microstudio) before installing the new.

When I asked how, I thought you were referring to the old version of firmware.:s I thought maybe I was supposed to unistall 1.09 before upgrading to 1.10. However, I will try removing and installing the program again if you think it might help.

Thanks,
Kelly

Can't hurt...though I'm not as confident as before. :m

George, you may be conflicting by having "2" versions on same machine. I know when we got to the later tests we all lost the use of the 2.613 we had on our computers, but the test version did work.

I did read your post before Amin deleted it and I thought it was a post with a valid problem.(Drives won't burn.) However, when you start saying some of the negative things you said in that post about being a former beta tester and how you would have been fighting over some of the language used in the pop up boxes for drives etc. I felt that was very negative and had no place in the forum. It is apparent to me that you are bitter about not being a beta tester any more but you should keep that to yourself. It has no business in a help forum.

GPAYNE:

That's what I was eluding to when I posted the above.

The criticism of the verbage on the Default Drives is very valid also (that language is too technical) but not my follow up comment about battling it out in Beta. In the year or so that has passed, that's the first time I made such a reference.

By the time I got back to it, the edit time had run out.

Bitter about not being on the team...NO, about how it happened... IT APPEARS SO.

I thought I'd worked through it and forgiven. Maybe I still have to work on that with my maker.

Take Care,

George
