Error 1334
 
I just received the upgrade for Microstudio 2.312 to 2.400. It did not install, but what it's worst it remove the 2.312 copy from my drive. It gave me an "error 1334: the file dmicrostudio_cassy_tab.gif could not be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file data1.cab". I am running a Dell Dimension 8250 with windows XP professional.

I can always reinstall the older version, but it does not recognize my new Plextor 48/24/48A. The 2.4 version is supposed to do that.

Still no luck
 
I redownloaded 2.4, reinstalled, before it finished it gave me the same error. I tried reinstalling some of the older versions and I got the same message. I had 2.132 working great (minus the problem with the Plextor, of course) until I tried the 2.4 installation.

Any help would be appreciated

Did you first uninstall any versions of microstudio before downloading 2.4?? I read some people in the threads telling that they needed to uninstall first...

Bandl,
Have you downloaded all the Service Packs/ Updates for XP Pro? If not this could cause the problem. This is a problem that is tied to the Installshield, which runs off of Microsoft's MSI Installer that is built into Windows 2000 and XP.

All updates installed...still no Microstudio

I installed all the Windows XP updates (none, I think were related to installshield) and tried reinstalling Microstudion 2.4. I got exactly the same error message. By the way there is another sentence in the error windows that reads more or less that the problem could be a network error (I am not in any network), CD-ROM trouble or a problem with the package.

Bottom line I lost all my Microstudios and could not install the new one.

My most sincere apologies, Microstudio 2.4 is installed now. Here is what happened. I unistalled the other microstudio that I had and proceeded to have the errors that I related in my other messages. When I got frustrated today, I though that I would go back and see if windows had "really" unistalled the software. Well...it had not! I unistalled (again) and run the set up for Micro2.4. It worked.

As a very old costumer (I go way back to Disc Architect) and from someone that has "produced" about 300 CDGs using your software...many thanks and once again my apologies.

This won't help in this instance, but may help down the road. I am going to assume that when you download, you "open" to download, or you wouldn't have completely lost your older version of Microstudio. It is a good practice to "save" all downloads to the default MTU folder, then open them. This enables you to back the programs up to a cd in case of a crash, or re-open them as needed in case of an event like you are experiencing.

When you uninstall a program in favor of an upgrade, the old version will still be in tact in the MTU folder.

Another thing that is of benefit to downloading to "save" is it goes a long way to preventing glitches in the downloads, data loss, etc.

If I made a wrong assumption, please forgive. Hope you get up and running soon.

Another glitch
 
Thanks to all the people that answer.
kzone, I read your message but I am not sure what you are suggesting that I do.

The other glitch I ran into is that after making a CDG and saving it to the HD I tried to play it using Microstudio. It comes up as a small screen and the graphics scrolls halfway through the screen and then it stops. The music plays, but the graphics do not move. I also tried other CDGs that I had in the HD and the same thing occured.

I have 2.66 GHz processor so it is not a slow computer.

Changing the ASPIs did not seem to help

Any suggestions?

Don't know why the graphics problem, but regarding the small windowed screen all you should have to do is double click on the screen to enlarge it. If you want to default to full screen, click on VIEW, DISPLAY MODE, then check 8 BIT FULL SCREEN.

Bandl,
The problem with the Diplay is going to lead to the point that you need to upgrade your Video card drivers to make sure that they support DirectX 8.1. If it is an ATI card you can go to www.ati.com for drivers. If it is an Nvidia brand card you can go to www.nvidia.com for updated drivers.

This should fix the problem.

I have a 64MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 with TV out Video Card. Went to the site and dowloaded the latest driver, installed it, rebooted, no luck. The graphics still stops half way through the initial screen.

Thanks all for the help. Any new ideas?

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

Go to My Computer, Properties, Device Manager, Display Adapters,
Click on "+", Double Click on Nvida, Give us the information under "DETAILS TAB " also go to "DIAGNOSTICS TAB" if it's there and run the diagnostics if any tests are shown, go to "DRIVER TAB" Driver File Details and tell us the File Version.

SOMEWHERE ABOVE AM LOOKING TO CONFIRM THE 41.09 VERSION GOT INSTALLED.

I went along and installed the driver that it recommended, however this was not 4.1.0.9, so I went back to the 4.1.0.9. (When I tried the Microstudio with the "newly installed" driver [after rebooting, of course] the graphics were doing exactly the same.)

Finally on the Resources Tab

Resorces setting:Bunch of Memory settings, IRQ# (16) and other stuff
Conflicting Device List: No conflicts.

This is all the information that is available in the Properties area.

I assume is a PCI because in the General Tab it says its located in a PCI bus
"Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0 "

PS By the way yesterday I tried playing commercial CDGs (Sound CHoice) It displayed the opening graphics (Song name etc) and that was all. The music played on, but the screen did not change. Is there some buffering that needs to be changed somewhere?

I ordered from the internet site and it had the 64MD DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 with TV Out.
I printed the system/sysinfo/sysComponentInfo.htm file and it printed the following:

Driver: nv4_mini.sys
