When will my drives be supported?

I'm really bummed, for two reasons.

I upgraded from an older version of MTU. I have two pc's, an older one and a newer one. The older version worked on my old pc, but then when Windows got reinstalled, I had to reinstall it, but I decided to upgrade first, then I was told that the newer version would not work on my older pc drives (why would you make it so it DOESN'T work when it did before??).
Then I figured it would work on my new pc, but it doesn't. I didn't pick the drives that came with my pc; they were chosen by Dell. Why wouldn't you make your product compatible with Dell products when it is such a common brand? Makes no sense.
I have a SONY CDRW CRX216E and _NEC DVD+RW.
Now I can't use Microstudio at all...all that money for nothing!

Older Version

slanoue,

older version we're able to support more drives but now the new version will only support the Plextor brand. You might want to re-install the older version on your older machine even know it has a fresh new installation?

On your new Dell, your Sony & Nec might be cdg compatible but they won't work with any MTU software because the driver they use will only support the plextor brand. When you say Dell pick the drives, your correct but you also had the option to install a Plextor because if I'm correct Dell also sells this brand? I guess you didn't know...

Download this demo of 2.604 and test

slanoue, click here to download the Microstudio 2.604 demo and test your drive. Post back here if it recognizes it or not. My HP 9100 is now recognized and I expect your Sony will be also. :w

Oh yes... mlepine, you will find that Microstudio 2.604 will now continue playing when you click to another program. Merry Christmas is May... we expect to release later this week. :g

Thanks for your help...

How do I get the older version of Microstudio? See, the problem is that I have no idea where I put the original downloaded files for that one. I installed it years ago. I only have the newest one.

As for ordering the plexor with my Dell, since I knew the program had worked on my older Dell with its drive, I had no reason to think that it wouldn't work with the new one, or that I needed a Plexor....otherwise, yes, I would have ordered one.

Thanks!

New Version

Have you tried the Demo like Admin suggested?

He feels your Sony might work so that would be the first thing to do.

Not yet...guess I'm not really sure what demo is for? Will it tell me if it works or not?
Do I have to uninstall the newer version first?

Thanks

When you download the Demo version, you will have a shortcut on your desktop that will say Microstudio Demo, double ckick & you will see if your Sony is supported?

The new Microstudio that will be available this week seems to be able to support more drives than the previous version.

No need to uninstall any previous version to run this demo but the new updated full version will uninstall any previous version on your system.

Well, I tried the demo on both my new and old pc's, and it doesn't like the new pc's drives but it works on the old one.
Woo hoo! Thanks!
