Duplicate Disc Freeze

Upgraded to 3.004 from 3.003 using the MTU install. Removed existing with the (install wizard) provided with mtu's download and installed 3.004. All functions work fine (import tracks, write disc.) however when I try to Duplicate program does not respond Duplicate Disc window appears, Read, Write drives are recongized, Temp folder selected but when I select Duplicate Disc, or test your cd the Preparing for Duplication window appears like it should then the Duplicate Disc window appears but nothing happens. The close buttons don't respond on any window. I can only get out with task manager End Task However Microstudio will not reopen until I restart my machine. If at the time when the Duplicate Disc widow appears and nothing happens I click on cancel everything freezes I have to power down to quit. I hope I have explained this well, and I am LOOKING FOR HELP!! Any ideas

Rerun the install for 3.004 and this time select "Remove" then run it again and install. There may be a residual part that is causing a problem left on the computer from the previous version.

dtbice January 7th, 2007 10:10 PM

Yes I've tried that twice, nothing changed

ddouglass January 8th, 2007 02:27 AM

Are you sure you are waiting long enough for the duplication to start? Check your drive activity lights when you start it to see if it is working.

dtbice January 8th, 2007 03:14 AM

The activity lights for both the optical drive and hard drive flash at the very beginning then stop. Nothing happens from that point on. the rom drive will not even open, no activity at all if I don't select cancel I can get out with the task manager (End Task) however the program will not open again until I restart the computer. If I select cancel there is no escape it freezes and I have to shut the power off and start over. I have removed and installed several times with no success. I have submitted a support ticket so i'll see what they think.....Any ideas let me know I have used all of mine

It looks llike you and Ddouglass have done an excellent job of first round diagnostics and reporting.

This is something our Programmers need to review, so the Support Ticket will be closed as I bring this to Engineering.

It clearly is a Microstudio problem as it should not lock up under any condition. It also appears to be somewhat unique as no one else has reported any problems with Duplicate Disc... so far. Thus, it is also "system" related. This is the hardest type of problem to isolate.

Please remove 3.004 and reinstall 3.003 and verify Duplicate Disc works. If it does, the problem is clearly in 3.004, which is valuable to know in guiding us where to look.

You may want to stay with 3.003 until we find the problem, or ask you to try things for us. We are now working on 3.100, which uses entirely new code for accessing the drives. We'll look at your reported problem and expect to fix it in 3.100 (free upgrade). :w

Admin.....when I try to install 3.003 it tells me the serial # doesn't match.
I saved it on an external HD but not until after I installed it on my second computer (MY BAD) Can you set me up with the right 3.003 download

ddouglass January 8th, 2007 09:13 PM

You have the right download (there is only 1), but Microstudio can only be installed on one computer. Only Hoster allows two. If I am misunderstanding you, then you can opena support ticket to get your registration reset.

dtbice January 8th, 2007 09:43 PM

Dale.....Now I really feel bad...I thought MTU allowed microstudio and hoster both to be installed on 2. I have Microstudio installed on 2 and thought I was legal. I have no problem with another purchase just thought I was OK. I'll do a support ticket and let admin know the situation:s :s :s

DTBICE

Read the installation section of the Microstudio Manual.

You are permitted to install Microstudio on a second computer for back up purposes.

You are violating the license agreement if you run the program on two computers simultaneously.

George
"The End User License allows installing and running Microstudio on one computer." This is from the web page on Microstudio. Hoster can be installed on 2 but not Microstudio.:g

I would suggest you read the Installation section of the manual.:w

All MTU products can now install on 2 computers except Hoster Lite and Vogone Lite which are on 1 computer.

You cannot install MTU products on an external HDD. That is most likely your problem here. Install Microstudio 3.003 on the same HDD it was on.

We still have your crashing problem in our spec. Since Microstudio 3.100 is well underway, and the Dupe Disc code is totally rewritten, we expect your problem to go away in 3.100, which will be a free upgrade for all 3.x buyers.

So web page is going to be changed?:w

George January 10th, 2007 03:44 PM

Why should MTU change their Legal End Users License Agreement?

The way it is they have the flexibility to rescind the priviledge of two installations on any individual abusers if need be.

Been that way for along time on both Microstudio and KHP with no problems.
