Re: Plextor 716A

Most likely this drive will work, but we don't yet have drivers for this drive.

We should have the drivers for this drive in the next release of Microstudio.

Microstudio 2.610 will support this when it is released. This will probably be released 2/15/05. We have not yet updated Microstudio to support this drive, but it will be in the next few weeks.

Thanks Bryan,
I'm looking forward to it. I have been using the MTU products for a couple of years and have had a lot of fun and success. I am just getting Hoster set up on my new computer and have a lot of multisession disks. Hoster is an excellent tool and I look forward to using it at shows! Have a lot of hours of importing before that though. :g

Sometimes, for unknown reasons (thanks Microsoft! :r), in the Reading or Writing Drive fields, even if your drive is visible, it may not be "selected". Go figure... :r

Click the drop down arrows for each of these fields and reselect your drive.

Plextor 716a Driver

I am a seasoned MTU Plextor and Microstudio user. Love their products. I recently purchased a Plextor 716A burner. Works wonderfully for backing up all my Karaoke cd's. I am trying to get the DVD software that came with the burner to download, but it will not enter. Any help out there. I use a Windows XP Home. (File attached). Thanks, Patti

MTUSUPPORT May 24th, 2005 11:48 AM

Patricia,
I have emailed you on this, to give Plextor a call as they are the ones that support the DVD software. MTU only supports our Microstudio software, not software that comes with your Plextor drive.

Thanks Brian,
I will contact Plextor.

Error 2:0:0 not 3:0:0 ?

I recently purchased (from you) the 716A and the upgrade to 2.612
I can copy but not burn.. I get an error:
"START DAO RECORDING" command failed on device 2:0:0
Disc type not supported

I don't have Roxio & I Uninstalled Nero 6.. to no avail..

ddouglass May 14th, 2006 02:38 AM

JohnD, I believe you problem is the medium (disc) you are trying to use. Either the disc is bad (cheap ones tend to have more failures per pack) or the type you are using isn't supported. RW type definately won't work and I don't believe Microstudio will copy to a DVD either.

JohnD May 14th, 2006 03:13 AM

Thanks for the input ddouglas.. I'm using a CD-R .. I'll try another brand tomorrow. I've been using my brand successfully for 4 yrs.. but I guess the "upgrade" could be that "picky"? Something's gottagive.. I'm deffinately not happy with my purchase so far. Two other programs that I used to use don't recognise the 716A as a CD+G either.

That definately is not so.

I use CDRW's for every project I do using KHP and Microstudio so I can see what the finished material is actually going to look like when played on the big screen t.v.. When I get it how I want it then I burn to a regular CDR, erase the CDRW, and use it over.

Also use CDRW to save work that changes, such as back-up files, etc. Saves a lot of coasters.

As with any other media, I use the best grade CDRW's available, and have no trouble with quality of CDG burns.

Only drawbacks are write speed limitation, and CDG player compatability. My Sony players are CDRW compatible, as is Microstudio.

George
