Windows XP and Microstudio Demo Crash!

Hello -
I downloaded the Demo version of Microstudio. After installation, when I try and run the program, it 'crashes' - I receive a popup with the message "Microstudio MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have XP Service Pack 1, and all available updates are installed. I also installed DirectX 9.0b (the latest available), but nothing helped.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom McCray

Compatibility

You might want to try this;

Right click the Microstudio Icon, select Properties, compatibility and change to Windows 98.

This problem happen to me and was also reported by others who are using Dell computers.
If in fact you are running a Dell, you might also want to update your bios, I'm not certain if that was the solution?

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info on compatibility that was the issue. I would like to know if I missed something, is Microstudio compatible with Windows XP?:)

I think the problem is related to the brand of computer like Dell in my case & not Microstudio.
Do you have a Dell & if yes, what model? This could help others...

I very seriously doubt the brand of computer such as Dell is the problem. I have a Dell laptop 600m and run both Microstudio and Hoster without any problems.

I have to say that I don't think this is a computer brand or model issue. I don't have a Dell.
I chose to get the full version anyway as the product does what I was looking for. The issue is still there and have to use 98/ME (ouch) comptibility mode.
This could an XP patch issue, I have XP Pro with SP1a.
Please keep me in the loop on this as I'm curious about an answer.

I think you guys are right redarding it not being a brand issue. If it were, as many Dells as there are out there, support would be in overload by now.

For that matter, XP is considerably more forgiving regarding p.c settings to operate Microstudio than 98SE ever thought of being. Screen savers and resolution settings, for example are not the issue in XP that they were in 98SE.

Bios Update

You could be right, maybe it's not the brand but a Bios update that fixed my problem?

I have 2 Dell computers & it did this only on my Laptop Inspiron 4100 so like I said previously maybe the Bios Update was the solution?

Regards
