Two Microphone Techniques for Singers

Here are two microphone techniques for Singers......

These techniques will give you better overall sound when you are singing.

Technique #1
Holding the microphone about 2" away from your face place the top of the mic no higher than the top of your chin.
You are singing across the top of the mic. Songs with a lot of "P's" the "Pw" sound are not as easily picked up. You have less chance of "Clipping" the mic during a song in which you increase the volume or octave during the song. Tony Bennett uses this technique.

Technique #2
Grip the microphone with your hand and your index finger resting against the bottom of the bottom of the dome of the mic head. Next Place your Thumb across the dome of the mic so that the Thumb Nail covers the Center of the Mic. With this technique you are covering the diaphragm of the mic so that as you sing you have less chance of "Clipping" the mic during a song in which you increase the volume or octave during the song. You are not singing directly into the diaphragm, the sound "Flows" around the diaphragm. Once again keep the mic at least 2" away from your mouth. Julio Iglasis uses this technique.
