Recording Voice/Music Syncronation

When I record with music and voice together thay are not syncronized. It's as if the voice is playing faster then the music and not by a fraction of a second it is severe, Any Thoughts out there.:?

Windows XP
Micro Studio 4.006
M-Audio MobilePre USB interface

Dale

Thanks for the feedback. Any Idea when that release will be issued?

No. They are still working on it. They are also working on other areas of Microstudio as well.

Ouch. I was going to use Microstudio for recording until that feature was added to Hoster. I tried using Audacity, but it drops bits competing for resources with Hoster on the same PC. I am going to try Reaper as it uses less resources than Audacity. If that fails I'll use Reaper or Audacity on a different PC. Pretty convoluted though using 2 PCs and an external mixer to make a voice recording. (All at home, of course. Not for recording a show.)

Good news guys! I just tested the record feature in the latest Microstudio beta that was released for testing this afternoon (in XP) and the lyrics were in sync with the KMA file I used. :c

Download a copy of Microstudio 4.20.

Read and FOLLOW the instructions in the manual for calibrating the Save As file that mixes the Played song and the Recorded microphone signal. You can calibrate them to 20 milliseconds accuracy, which I think you will find quite acceptable.

FYI: Some computers don't require any calibration, but work perfectly with out default synchronization that was developed over extensive testing and engineering design. :w

It has to be plugged into the PC or you have to have a Line In connection between the mixer and the PC.

thanks Dale, i kinda know that now..read the manual last night. tried to plug my mic in and it won't go all the way , i think my mic line in connection is broken..

What type of jack is on the mic? It should be just a Tip and Sleeve (2 sections) 1/8 inch jack. If you try to use a headphone adapter (Tip, Ring and Sleeve - 3 section) it won't work for that.
