Search String

Recently I did a massive overhaul of all my songs, removed duplicates, renamed everything to be consistent, then re created my database.
Everything went smoothly.
I had the great idea the change ALL of the duet titles to \"whoever & whoever\" and then do a search for \"&\" and I could tag these as duets.
Problem is, you cant search for an & symbol, you get no results. I tried with quatation marks as well.. nothing.

Any ideas on how i can trick hoster into searching for \"&\" in the artist or filename so I can tag them as duets?
:?

Try this:
Edit dialog with Multiples selected, search mode as Word not String, on the Match row select only Artist & Genre buttons, I don’t know why but just selecting Artist only finds a few :w
On the Yes/No fields select Just Karaoke. If you also have Audio, Video & Kvideo you want to include Try them separate after wards I only tried this with Karaoke types.

Now in the search field enter * & * make sure to enter a space between characters and press search.
Now I don’t know if it finds all but my test produced a lot of results.

I attach a screen shot showing my settings to make it clearer.

One note though, not all songs with & in the artist field are true duets having the start of the track showing different colors for each singer.

Roy, \"Call Me When You\'re Sober\" did not include Paul McCoy :w

Lonman,

You might want to recheck this! I just found it in the MTV site and it listed \\\"With Paul McCoy\\\" ...

It may be referring to Bring Me To Life - Call Me When You\'re Sober wasn\'t even a duet.

My post was to help find the & Character in his database, I am not saying my own database is 100% accurate. Having said that this YouTube link shows as listed.

With or Featuring does not always imply a duet...

The songs in my own database actually listed as duets are songs that show the different colours for each singer, I notice now especially with these new releases that they are often listed as ft. But there is no pre screen indication of colour to indicate who sings what.
That is why I stated that not all songs listed as & are true duets to my way of thinking.

Re: Search String

As I stated not all songs where the & or ft appear are duets, looking into the track:

Looking at the video it is not a Duet, it appears that he just featured in the video.

There are numerous examples like this one being Valerie - Amy Winehouse. Some versions listed as Mark Ronson Ft Amy Winehouse in which case Mark Ronson is just the band.

Another example James Hype - ft Kelli-Leigh.

So just finding all the songs with & in the artist field is not going to find the true Duets.

Roy,

Sometimes they just accompany the primary artist...

That’s right.
There’s the other scenario with groups: Gerry & The Pacemakers, KC & the Sunshine Band, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, etc. etc..

Right and technically neither does an & sign, but it would allow you to search for \'ftg\' to change the status to duet instead of the & sign - which the OP stated doesn\'\'t search.

But in this case it was Mark Ronson\'s album/recording in which he hired Amy to do vocals, so Valerie - Mark Ronson ftg Amy Winehouse would technically be the correct entry.

Perfect! Worked like a charm!
