Import Bug in 3.310? - YES, being fixed now

I may have discovered a bug in 3.310. I am an IT Supervisor for a profession, so I have tried to document this bug as well as possible. Here is how to reproduce it:

Start Hoster. Click on Import Tracks, Import Hard Drive Files. Click MP3G. Choose a set of files representing a disc that is not currently imported into your system. Click Add Files. This is a new disc not in the database, so I choose "Sound Choice Spotlight." The disc ID is correctly interpreted for me. Click Next for the BookID Root field. This works fine. See the picture for the successful import:

http://woub.org/~martins/hoster/Successful%20Import.bmp

Here's where we run into trouble. Choose the next disc to import that also does not currently reside on the system. You'll see that the Disc ID is correct. See the picture:

http://woub.org/~martins/hoster/Looks%20Right.bmp

Now, click Next in the BookID Root field. Hoster will choose Disc 8100, which is the first disc that I have in the Sound Choice Spotlight series. If I click Import Files now, IT WILL OVERWRITE Disc SC8100. See the picture:

http://woub.org/~martins/hoster/Chooses%208100.bmp

If I try to fill in the Disc ID, it will take the ID that I type, however, the BookID will remain greyed out. So I click Import Files. From here I will get the message that the Book ID is in use and I need to use another. From this point the Book ID field will become enabled again and I can click on an ID. So I click the Next button and it chooses an ID. See Picture:

From here, I can import the disc correctly, but I have to go through this process repeatedly to import discs.

Great report! :c

We'll take a look at it this morning. With your details, if it is a Hoster bug, we should be able to create and fix it quickly. :w

Admin,
Can you confirm or deny the problem, yet?

More info on this report. I made this happen again and noted that it happens when the MP3+G files are burned to a CD-R and I choose the CD-R directory as the import directory. If I copy the files to the hard drive, this doesn't happen.

Buggy Beyond Belief

I am trying to import files from my hard drive. My external hard drive. I am trying to import Zip drives using the single option because the batch option takes me 30 seconds pre file even though the rest of the Hoster Comunity imports at a rate of 3 per second or something like that. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support today. Now I have a new problem. While impoting the disc ID changes on it's own. I am watching it change from what it is supposed to be to what ever the program chooses. Has anybody else experienced this or have a thought as to what might be causing this? Does anybody know what I am talking about?

Pissed OFF!!!!!

Mr. Buggy,
This link is a good place to start when seeking help

Beavis I am not referring to the book id. I am talking about the disc id. You are telling me that when you import zip files and set your fields to include disc id, Hoster is just suppose to ignore the disc id sometimes. As an example I have 5 zips that I am importing. They are SC8707. On the third zip it switches the disc ID from SC8707 to say SC8101. Does that make sense?

Too all. If I came across to harsh in my first post please forgive me. But also please try to understand that my frustration stems from trying to solve problems with Hoster that are unfortunately not resolved. This goes back to June 1st. Thank You.

This is happenning with ZIP Files too!

I have experienced this exact problem importing zipped files from my hard drive. I am currently running Hoster v3.310. I'm not sure if it was happenning before this version or not but it definitely is happenning now and it does appear to be writing over existing songs. This appears to be a serious bug to me since it is overwriting songs already in the database. Does anyone know the status of this issue and whether it has been recognized as a bug. Also, does anyone know if it is only in the 3.310 version or was it in 3.303 as well. I'm a bit concerned because there is no way of knowing how many (and which) songs I may have overwritten by not noticing this problem earlier. :?

I can only say I'm sorry we haven't fixed this earlier. :s

We are on Microstudio and Vogone new versions which has kept us from touching Hoster again.

I have emailed our lead programmer to review this thread now, and email me what it will take to fix. I have tentatively scheduled it to be fixed next week. We will target to only fix this bug as it is a very nasty one.

Yes We Are Having This Problem And Have Since Installing The New Programe 3.310.We have this problem loading zip files, but found a way around it and didnt report it. I did read D S-Nicholson July 17th reported a similar problem but was not picked up on.Looks like MTU are onto it now!

admin September 25th, 2006 12:53 PM

Marty45714, I send you and email on September 8 with a beta version of 3.311. I never heard back whether this solved your problem.

We have now released Hoster 3.311. Does anyone in this thread still experience the problems described here?

If so, please post your findings here. We are moving towards 3.312 with a fix for the Plextor drives not working correctly as result of our using a vendors' CD/DVD Drive interface code that they misrepresented to us. :m

Imports seem to work fine now!

I have imported many songs since upgrading to the 3.311 version and the problem appears to be fixed. Thanks MTU!:)
