Only prints TITLE

I\\\'ve finally decided to print some new song books after about 15 or so years. I ticked By Artist, Last Name First, The/A At End and Entire Songbook. I went to View Song Book and instead of starting with the artist, it started with the title. I even changed By Artist to By Title and it still stayed the same. I went back to By Artist and opened View Song Book and it was still By Title. I know it\\\'s been a lot of years but is there something I\\\'m doing wrong or forgotten to do???

Thanks,
Ernie

Also, Does anyone know why I keep getting these (\\\\\\\\\\\\) in my messages ONLY on MTU?

Are you sure you selected BY Artist ?

When you select the By Artist radio button does the field selector below that change to Artist ?

The only way I can see that it would print wrong is if you imported with the wrong define field order.

Do the songs appear in your playlist under the correct headings ?

Are you using Microsoft Word for viewing the results ?

These characters appear after entering Apostrophes ’ or Double Quotes “ ” . it is a fault with the forum, a cure has not been found as yet. Each time you Preview your post they double up. The ones I printed are special characters slightly different but look the same.

Re: Only prints TITLE

After you have created the file do you view it by pressing the View Songbook Button or do you brows to a file on your computer ?

I’m wondering if you are opening a songbook from an earlier version that stored the file in a different location so you are opening the same file every time.

The new Songbook.rtf is in this folder: C:\\ProgramData\\mtu.com\\Hoster by default. It is always the same name and is overwritten each time you create a new songbook.

The ProgramData file is normally in a hidden location. The easiest way to find it is from the Tools menu/Hoster Datafolder. then look for “SongBook.rtf” it must be the one with the .rtf extension.

Hope the helps.

Roy, I always use the View Songbook Button. I checked the SongBook.rtf and it is also in title.

Thanks,
Ernie

Re: Only prints TITLE

Delete the existing songbook.rtf file then see if it will create an artist order.

Worth a try :w

Re: Only prints TITLE

Roy, I moved the SongBook.rtf file to another location. I then opened Create Song Books. The View Song Book Button was not highlighted like the other three. I then ticked the Create button and then the View Songbook button became highlighted. I ticked it open and the songbook is by Artist. I tried by title and it still comes up by Artist, which is all I\'m interested in. Will the SongBook.rtf come back if I do a BUILD DATABASE? Do I even need SongBook.rtf?.....All I can say is you fixed it. What a great call. Thank you so much Roy!!

Re: Only prints TITLE

Well it seems its not overwriting the original Songbook.rtf file.

This normally happens if you have the songbook file open in Word or some other program but then you should get a window pop up asking you to close the other program as soon as you press create.

The songbook.rtf file has nothing to do with rebuilding database, it writes a new one if one does not already exist or overwrites each time you press the create button. It can not overwrite if it is in use by another program.

So if you did not already have it open then something else is wrong.

I suppose if you wanted a by Title version now you would have to delete it again before creating a new one.

Re: Only prints TITLE

another thing that comes to mind is, if the Songbook.rtf file is showing as Read only.

If you right click the file and select properties, the attributes Tick boxes at the bottom should be showing clear, if not untick them and Apply, then see if you can change from artist to title and back again.

Re: Only prints TITLE

Roy, I went to Attributes and both boxes were unticked. I also looked at my new SongBook.rtf and it is 1,344kb. I then checked the original SongBook.rtf that I had moved and it had 5,208kb. Why the difference??? Is the new one missing songs?

Thanks,
Ernie

Re: Only prints TITLE

After it creates the new songbook before opening it a window normally pops up stating how many songs.

I just checked the properties of my own and it shows 1.78 MB that is 200 pages 24000 songs.

So I can’t say other than that.
