Hoster screen flashing on & off with 3.313

Upgraded to 3.313 and now the main Hoster screen goes blank and then comes back on when the lyric screen changes to the next page. Not everytime but nearly with every page change. Also lyrics page backround goes white, you lose half the words, then everything comes back normal again. Restored to prior version and everything works just fine again. Any help would be appreciated, or has someone else had this problem!
Thanks

This has not been reported by others.

1. Make sure your Windows is fully updated.

2. Make sure your video card drivers are fully updated also.

Post back here either a success or failure to fix this.

It may be something in Hoster, but since no one else is reporting it, it may be related to your system (hardware AND software). :?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll make sure I try both and let you know.

Yes, I am experiencing the MAIN Hoster screen having to REDRAW every time the SEARCH BOX is Closed.

It's worse if you bring another program up and, then, click on Hoster to bring it to the FRONT.

This happens on both, MATROX and ATI Video Card Systems.

It, also, takes too much time to add Songs, move Songs, select Songs, and Delete Songs from the Playlist.

Feel like I'm in slow motion.

Went back to 3.312 no problems with the aforementioned.

Went back to 3.312 no problems with the aforementioned.

I only noticed a slow redraw when the Search dialog covered the Hoster control screen, and the slowness was only when a song was playing (i.e. the Preview window was active). Otherwise, redraw was instantaneous when Search dialog covered it and was closed.

While playing and not playing (V3.313) I added, moved, selected and deleted songs in the playlist and didn't see any slowdown at all. There may be some video setting you have that is causing this delay.

Anyone else have an idea what it could be? :?

i have been running all windows and video card updates and playing with settings to see if i could find a reason. i cant
and it is happining on 3 diff machines. Bob:e :e

gd123 December 11th, 2006 11:35 PM

I should have mentioned that this only happens when a SONG is PLAYING.

TKaraoke December 12th, 2006 07:55 AM

Additional info!

GD123, I also am only experiencing while a song is playing, never mentioned that.

Redownloaded v3.313 and did an upgrade verses a complete uninstall/install.

No change...still experiencing the same problems when a Song is Playing.

Further, and this you may be able to identify as a problem easier, and has nothing to do with Video Card Settings:

Do this:
Add two Songs to the Playlist.
Start Play of the first Song.
While the first song is Playing, click on the second Song, to highlight it.
Click STOP, to stop the current Song Playing, and IMMEDIATELY click START, to start the HIGHLIGHTED Song Playing.

Result:
Hoster will turn the PLAY Button GREEN, but the HIGHLIGHTED Song WILL NOT START PLAYING and Hoster just sits there untill the PLAY Button is Clicked again.

Reason:
Because Hoster is in SLOW MOTION and the GREEN PLAY "word," in the SATUS Column takes too long too turn OFF and show READY. A person can physically Click the PLAY BUTTON, to START a different Song PLAYING, before HOSTER has time to react to the STOPPING of a PLAYING SONG.

Perhaps when you fix this, you will find that Hoster's Main Screen redraw problems will go away.

hoster runing slow

Just got back from my m8 house and we were able to reproduce
what gd123 found using his step's he outline

only with the kma's.
we could not do it with mp3g's

If it was a imported mp3g with a header wraped around it
we could get it to do it

So if hoster had to read the header or load the header or look at the songs mdb it would run soooo slow
if it just had to play mp3g then there was no problem

It took about 3 to 4 sec after hitting stop for the song to stop playing
search was slow also

Ok this delay in hoster acting slow on a command we have never seen before good luck !!!

By the way we check 8 setting in the unit before we installed hoster 3.313
and we check it after the install

THERE WERE NO SETTING CHANGED IN THE UNIT FROM INSTALL OR UN INSTALL SO IT IS NOT THE UNIT SETTINGS THEY ARE THE SAME FROM 3.301 SO WE DID CHECK THEM BEFORE AND AFTER

AFTER THE TEST WE PUT BACK 3.301 ALL IS WORKING FINE WITH THE SAME UNIT SETTING

ddouglass December 13th, 2006 12:54 AM

I also ran GD123's test as he listed and could not duplicate his results. First song stopped and second song started immediately without any trouble or delay.

GD123 try opening task manager to the processes tab. If you click on the top of the "CPU" column twice it will list the processes using the highest percentage of CPU time at the top of the list. This can help find what is causing the slowdowns. Also, check Performance tab to see how much memory is being use during the test and how much Processor time is being used.

hoster problems

i have been using hoster for years, never had a failure during a show, never had a failure during practise at home that i didn't self induce. I ran it for 4-5 years on a desktop which was a cheap hp, souped up to run hoster only, last two years on a hp laptop souped up a little for hoster. don't do karaoke, but do shows, probably singing more songs than a karaoke show does per night, and we perform 3-4 nights per week up and down the east coast. What am i doing wrong to have none of the problems i read about everyday in this forum. I starting to get worried so maybe i need to quit reading these forums.
And i'm not kidding, never had a problem at all. I getting scared. i have used hoster 2 whatever and have upgraded to the newer versions as they came out, used everyone. Maybe i'm doing something wrong!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I have to say you're not alone. The vast majority run just as you do. :g :g :g We're happy about that. :w

However, there are some who clearly know what they are doing in this thread that are reporting problems. Between gd123 and bill moore, we're getting some good data to diagnose with.

I've already gone back to 3.312.

There are no problems there.

Three Computers, WinXPpro SP2 experience the same thing. Two Compters with ALL Updates and One Computer with only SP2 and hasn't been online for about 6 months.

One of the three has probably 100 programs on it and 512k RAM, One Computer with a couple of Utility Programs and 1 GIG RAM, and One Computer with bare minimum Programs and 512k RAM.

From 3.312, all I do is Click on the 3.313 EXE, go through the Install, finish the Install, reboot, Select CDROM from the first Hoster Startup, Hoster Loads...then problems.

Repeat the Process to go back to 3.312...no problems.

No system resources have changed on any computer by simply installing 3.313.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

gd123, same here, go back and forth on two notebooks and 3.312 runs fine, go back to 3.313 and same problems.

This one's got us stumped! :?

Here's the problem, we now have far superior software error correction code for importing from discs. We are building it into Hoster 3.314 tomorrow for beta testing over the weekend.

Whatever we can find TOMORROW on your problems, we can try to fix. If not, they will be in 3.314 also. :e :r :s :s :s

There is always a chance that the "next" build will work for you, just as 3.312 worked, and 3.313 doesn't. Hey, maybe we should skip over every version "13". :r :t :?

Admin--
Any help on this problem yet?

Beavis December 19th, 2006 09:58 AM

TKaraoke December 19th, 2006 10:47 AM

Already did that, that's how I got thru this weekend.
