Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Greetings!
Does anyone know of a solution that will render a Windows Media Audio/Video file usable by Hoster software?

Thanks in advance.

Gwen

Hoster should play all wma & wmv without any conversion.

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Roy,
Thanks so much. I really do appreaciate the advice, guidance and support you provide.

I understand you to say Hoster should play all WMA & WMV without any conversion, but I do not know how to make these files available to be selected as part of a Hoster "playlist", for example.

I would like to have WMA or WMV files display on my monitor screen the same as files having type of CDG, MP3G, etc., but I do not see where WMA or WMV file types are available as an option to import into my Hoster song database, that is, using the Hoster import (from hard drive) feature.

Please advise.

Thanks.

GwenButler,

Click on the Video button ( K-Oke --- Audio --- Video ) in top right part of the controls screen... and point to the file where your Video files are kept, and click OPEN... If you wish to import them and index them... then use the VIDEO button, the last of the indexing formats, in the indexing screen...

Greetings,
I was able to successfully load a video onto my Hoster song list (see attachment). While the audio portion of the file works fine, I am unable to see any of the video during the performance (black screen).

FYI - This particular file plays just fine (audio and video) when executing via Windows Media Player.

Thanks in advance.

Have you added the K-Lite codecs that is recommended when you install Hoster? I believe you need this to play videos in Hoster.

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

WaltR,
Thanks for your support. I installed my version of Hoster in 2008 so I can not remember if K-Lite codecs were added at that time.

Do you know of a method I can use to verify this requirements, or is it just as easy to add (or "re-add") K-Lite codecs at any time?

Thanks in advance,
Gwen

K-Lite Codecs should be updated from time to time. Go to the MTU support page and select your version of windows. If you go through the recommended changes that should be made to Windows, there is a section to go to K-Lite Codecs. Upgrade to the latest version (not the ones that say "Mirror").

You are welcome. Did you get it the videos to play?

WaltR,
Thanks again for your support. I have not had a chance to sit down and address this need yet.

Hopefully I will get a chance soon.

I apologize regarding the delay in following thru in getting this issue resolved-- I became frustrated with my inability to follow instructions based upon the (MTU Support Page) guidance that was provided and just gave up. I am now revisiting this need.

When previously discussed, it was suggested that I verify K-Lite codecs were added when Hoster was installed and that I:
“Go to the MTU support page and select your version of windows. If you go through the recommended changes that should be made to Windows, there is a section to go to K-Lite Codecs. Upgrade to the latest version (not the ones that say "Mirror").”

I do not see anything on the MTU support that seems to support the “K-Lite Codecs” investigation instructions that were provided. Can someone please help me to better understand what needs to be done to resolve my problem as I am able to successfully load a video onto a Hoster song list (see attachment) and while the audio portion of the file works fine, I am unable to see any of the video during the performance (black screen). Further, my video file plays just fine (audio and video) when executing via Windows Media Player.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Gwen, you cannot have videos displayed in the KJ preview screen at this time... If you had the latest Hoster version, it would state "Videos do not appear in this window" but you can extend and or split the video to another monitor or tv using hdmi or any other video connections that you are familiar with...

Rikki,

I am testing video capability remotely--hopefully when I "hook everything back up, properly", I will be able to achieve desired results.

Thanks for the support on this one!

Gwen

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Gwen,

I am not the best source for troubleshooting your problem with video, as it involves the video capabilities of the Hoster Version you are presently using... and IF I read your post correctly, you are using a version you first loaded in 2008? Is that accurate? Have you updated to any newer version since then? And what version would that be?

I am trying to imagine the time warp differences that the older version presents to you, and with us trying to advise you, using what we know about the current version of Hoster ( 5.41.xx )...

In your version, it seems the dual display, ( KJ Preview Screen, and Audience Screen ) are not both operating from your last screenshot, and your Preview Screen is black (As it is in my later version also), but with the Audience Screen also projected on my single computer main screen display, I can see what would be displayed once I extend that screen to another monitor, or TV...

Perhaps Roy or Walt will revisit your post, and be able to guide you further... or MTU support ( remember that support is basically working on new features of Hoster, Micro Studio, Vogone, Keyrite, etc. ) and without a support ticket filed by you, they may not respond to your problem, and advise you, because they are not aware of your difficulties, if they are not presently monitoring this post in the forum?

But I'll listen in and interject with anything I know of that may help... we just need to be aware that your using an older version of Hoster, and it may be something to ponder, if & when contemplating an upgrade?

Rick

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Rikki,
Just as you said, once my equipment setup split the video to another monitor I was able to play video files successfully, that is, everything is working just fine.

My only problem now is that I am unable to locate video files via the Hoster search feature when creating a new playlist. As a workaround, I will load (and play) all videos within a single playlist.

Any suggestions that would allow for greater flexibility much appreciated--I am using Hoster Version 3.321.

Thanks a ton! :)

Best,
Gwen

Re: Windows Media File Converted for Hoster Use

Gwen,

Glad the videos are visible on the extended screen(s)...

I store my Videos in a Separate Folder on my External Drive (2TB) and then list them by Genre ( Pop, Rock, Country, etc.) and then when I need or care to use them, I place in the playlist ( Usually as filler music before Karaoke show starts, and maybe a couple of End of Show dance tunes, while I'm tearing down for the night... ) Your Mileage May Vary...

I know Roy, for one, indexes his videos, and uses the search feature to add to his playlists... I'm sure you have your preferences... so experiment a little... Hoster won't let you down!

We are beta testing Version 5.41.03 (Beta 6) at this time... the new features may be worth your while, if you have the need to upgrade while the price is discounted... ( I think I Saw A Sale This Month:w )

Oh wow that version is way old and no longer supported. Not much we can do with an old version, just being honest. But the new versions are way much better.
