Preview Screen Garbled, extended's very clear??
I finally got a new computer; a Dell XPS15z, 8 Gb Ram, i5, nvidea GT525M dedicated 1 GB video ram, 750 gB HD at 7200 rpm. Windows 7 Home Premium. First experience with that too.
I'm actually new at using H5.07 as I've been on 4.09D with XP Home SP3 for so long with hardly ever any crashes over many years of 5 to 10 shows a week with a Dell E1505 and a Dell 6000 as a backup using Hoster 4.09D. On the new XPS15, I've done all the recommended MTU tweaks, all windows 7 updates, and installed 5.07 very carefully working with Roy D. Oh, also installed the full codec pack and all videos work in Hoster that should. My DJ program also plays all forms of video files and video effects very well. The problem is: I cannot get the preview screen to show clear lyrics, they are all garbled up. I've tried different sizes of preview screens, different screen resolutions for both laptop and monitor, (native resolution is 1366 by 768. So I am back to that on both laptop and screen. Have tried a few other drivers to no avail as well. The weird thing is: When I left click on the preview screen and hold for about a second, the preview screen clears right up, but then continues to begin "garbling" again. I've discussed this a bit with Roy, and we're both still trying to figure it out. Is there anyone out therewith a new similar laptop or someone that has had a similar issue and resolved? Did I miss a tweak I should have done? Have I done a tweak I shouldn't have? Really at a standstill now with a brand new clean $1000 laptop. I'm hoping the left-click on preview screen clearing things up is some kind of clue. I'm hoping I have missed something or some setting that is extremely simple?? Any Help??? |

did you update the drivers directly from nvidias website ? you know they are out of date

I'll also try to run the program with the nvidea card disabled, if possible. But I really need the power of that nvidea to push my dj and video program, which I run alongside hoster all the time. Also, the HD3000 onboard graphics is supposed to be a fairly high level card for an onboard. Hard to imagine it cant handle graphics on a laptop screen. All my older laptops did with very antiquated onboard graphics. |

Also, to throw out more info, I played a karaoke file on my DJ program and the sweeping and lyrics were all quite clear on both laptop screen and extended monitor. Maybe hoping this is something that MTU can look into in a future version. Just thinking out loud here? And hoping?

Re: Preview Screen Garbled, extended's very clear??
"I went to the suggested site: http://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx
and I downloaded the latest BETA driver, 290.53 to replace 285.62 and everything is working fine. The lyrics are clear and I can run another monitor. Things are good. Thanks to your help, and thanks to Roy's help, I can now use my new Lenovo laptop and my Acer netbook to run Hoster and Microstudio with dual monitors." Quoted from Wrahn Really weird that this has NO effect at all on my system??? :( |

I am having the same issue with the garbled preview screen on my new backup laptop running Hoster 5.07, my main system has been working all ok. My backup laptop is a Lenovo E530, 6 Gb Ram, i7 2.1Ghz, nvidia GeForce GT630M dedicated 2 GB video ram, 750 gB HD at 7200 rpm. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit O/S my nvidia drivers version is v290.56. I have made all the necessary adjustments as per the website for Win7. If i select Hoster to run with the standard integrated graphics when i select play Hoster crashes so i have selected the nvidia as Hosters default. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks Marco |
Re: Preview Screen Garbled, extended's very clear??
Hi Marco, this was the original full thread that wrahn posted when he had this problem on a Lenova laptop. http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?...led#post110212
In it he upgraded to the beta driver 290.53, I wonder if that particular beta driver is still available for you to try from the downloads page ?Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have helped bryant but then he is using a Dell computer, might just work for you. |

I will drop a note into support to take a look at this particular thread as it seems it's something new with these new type graphic cards. |

That seems to be similar to what I have had to do which is to completely disable the nVidea dedicated card and force all the programs run on the onboard video card, which is not recommended by most programs as satisfactory for video or karaoke use. Also, we spent the 300 dollars for the dedicated graphics card we can't use for what we were hoping for. As dedicated cards are recommended for Hoster too, but for the most part, the newer ones seem to work well, in fact, my really old ones work Okay. I also cannot come out the hdmi port (which is the nvidea card), and have to come out that mini display adaptor that Dell now uses then to a vga cable into a vga adaptor, then another vga cable out to singers monitor and several composite wires to audience TV's. Spent a bit beforehand for 30 ft. lengths of Hdmi cable and an expensive hdmi amplified splitter, but as of yet can't use it, but am still trying every driver one at a time on the nvidia download page in hopes of getting this to work as it should. |

The other thing that worked was when I totally disabled the nvidia dedicated card from control panel and ran a vga adaptor from the Dell mini-display, then to a vga adaptor, then a vga cord to sibgers monitor and a composite wire from the adaptor to an audience lyrics. Very bulky equipment on the DJ table, however, and no use of this expensive video card. |
Re: Preview Screen Garbled, extended's very clear??
Wow, I will have to make a FAQ on this for sure. Thank you for letting us know how you fixed the issue.
