hic-cupped and out of sync

just imported 10 disc last night on my show laptop on Hoster, and Microstudio, importing went w/o a problem, when i played the disc imported on Hoster, i got hic-cups and out of sync, i got the out of sync fixed, except the hic-cups, but anyway, i never had problem with out of sync and hicups before, i still have v4.22 ( hoster ), everything plays fine on Microstudio, no problems..

Are they new discs?
Were the ones imported the only ones giving the problem?
Try re-importing them.

before i deleted all the new disc i imported, i played some of the songs and they are all in sync except for the hicups, theyre still there, i played some of my old songs,.i started getting audio drop outs, ( never had this problem before ) and when i get the drops outs they will go out of sync.. i removed ( deleted )the new disc i imported, played the old songs i get audio dropouts then out of sync follows..i have tried all the audio playback #'s ( -+ ) nothing seems to fixed this problem, i just removed and re-installed Hoster v.422..still the same, songs will be in sync till the audio drop outs, then it will go out of sync..just wondering what went wrong..everything worked ok before i imported the new discs..:?

Sounds like your computer may be getting slower to respond. Time to clean it up, defrag it, etc. Have you done any other updates (Microsoft) lately?

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

It might be your external soundcardd if you are using one.

that's the first thing that came to my mind, and i did that, ran reg. mechanic, did the micro.updates..right now i am trying to do some driver updates from Dell..the funny thing was there are some songs that won't have dropouts, and some will have a no audio for a mil of a sec....

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

i have exhausted every resources i could think of, followed MTU's troubleshooting guide and none of them helped.., i couldn't get rid of the audio drop outs, i thought that my int. soundcard is going bad, but i've ran itunes, wmp, and some dj programs i have on this laptop and i didnt get any audio dropouts...just Hoster. i got the audio dropout followed by out of sync fixed, only the audio dropout i couldn't get rid of..

Have you tried restoring your computer to an earlier date before this trouble started ?
This is always reversible so well worth a try.

Biggest difference there would be that Hoster uses both Audio and Video simultaneous where the other programs are using only Audio.
Have you tried redownloading and reinstalling Hoster?

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

Have you done a Check disk ?
From Start/Run Type Chkdsk.exe.
Check also that all your installed ram is registering, in system properties.

Other than that do as Dale suggested but uninstall first.

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

i've tried both of your suggestions, i installed/ re-installed Hoster and did a checked disc/ looked for bad sector, system restored back to feb. 11, did all manufactures updates, ( drivers, Bios etc. ) microsoft updates, and non of them helped, i've tried all the playback off-set ( -+ ) i just got tired,i've worked on this all weekend, don't know what else to check..

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

Like you I'm stumped. All I can think of at the moment is there something else running in the background like something scanning your hard drive ?

Try running Hoster with the task manager open, under processes is there anything using an unusual amount of cpu?
Apart from Hoster most things showing should only be from 00 to 05. if anything jumps up to 20 or above I should think it suspect apart from the system Idol which would be showing something around 90.

Re: hic-cupped and out of sync

Just another thought, try some adjustments in the audio properties.
Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/ from the Audio or Voice tab click advanced then performance.
You should see hardware acceleration and sample quality, on my xp machine these are set to full & best but see if altering these has any effect.

i've looked into that and if i remember correctly i dont see anything jumping to around 90..the most i've seen was 00..but i'll look again as soon as i get home..thanks for the suggestion..i've thought about upgrading to 4.32.thinking that there might be a fix for this, but i am having second thoughts, i read one of the users in forum ( Darenpery March 12. ) who upgraded to 4.32.and is now having the same problem, upgrading might not fixed this problem...

i just did what you suggested and nothing is running above 20, mostly 00.hoster runs 00-03 and the systen idle process goes to 90-99..the only thing i can see going up is..ccsvchst.exe---flactuates to 0-50 memory usage 4k -14,096 ( +/- )

Billy this Norton Security. Here is a link to Norton forum on the same issue:
http://community.norton.com/t5/Norto...ssue/td-p/2888

Read through it and see if there is anything useful to get this down as I think this may be your problem, specially since you are also using a laptop and external hard drive.
