Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22
just wanted to post this out of frustration
i did my show last night and what a nightmare lyrics completely out of sync except for the first song which was in perfect sync go figure singers totally anger and most left my show i have a new hp puter with plenty of power 2.63 processor 1024 dedicated ATi card ect ect ect i do not understand why mtu can not get this corrected this lyric out of sync issues have been present in all versions after 3321 even using xp i had to close and restart hoster every single time for each song and ironically the lyrics were in perfect sync and before u post it yes i tried the graphic adjuster even used the max setting and lyrics stayed an easy 1 sec behind still unless i closed and restarted hoster for every song this seems to me to be saying its a program code issue but i have had enough of this and unfortunately am now in search of an alternative for hoster i have 6 fellow kj friends who i reccomended hoster to who now want to beat me down because of these lyric sync issues and have now themselves began switching to other programs They say change is a good thing We shall see Admin NOTE: Many users did NOT experienced the lyrics out of sync. We fixed a problem in Version 4.22 that has been there since 4.000. Now everyone should be in sync ALL the time. |
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
have you tried changing the playback offset to -0.5 ?
|
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
yes as i stated in my post i tried all setting even the max
|
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
i don't know what else to tell you, but most of the Hoster users that has this problem including myself was able to fixed it by just adjusting the plaback offset, in my case i adjusted it to -0.5,since you said that it's a new laptop have you done all the updates etc..and the changes needed ? ( had to asked, sorry)

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
honestly, anyone who does this professionally, should be running windows xp pro !

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I think the OP has a good point. I, too never had any offset problems with 3321. Since then, every version has needed adjustment. If virtually everyone needs an offset adjustment, seems like that's a big clue that the problem is not hardware-specific.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
The only problem Deeter is it is not everyone is having this problem.
James is this an Intel or AMD processor? Laptop or desktop? How much memory does the ATI have? What model is it? Have you done all the changes listed for Windows 7? Have you tried turning off unneeded processes using Blackviper's recommendations? Have you tried lowering the aceleration for the audio through the DXdiag? So what you are saying is MTU should not have put in all the requested upgrades that users have asked for? They have worked very hard trying to get this program as good as they can. Microsoft has thrown so many monkey wrenches into the works with the major operating system changes of Vista and Windows 7 that it is hard to keep up with all of it or find out from them what all they have changed. I know that the military had a policy in place that any major change in operating system had to have gone through rigorous testing and at least 2 service packs before they would even think of using it. Vista never made it to two and Windows 7 hasn't had one yet. IMHO that is where your program code errors are. |
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
james wheat did you switch to? I have been using hoster for 6 years and have been reluctant to change never knowing if going to another brand will have problems of a different nature. i must say over these years that between my band ( i use tracks and comp keyboard around them ) giutar player alsoweaves in and out of the tracks. it has always been bitter sweet with hoster. on one hand it gets the job done but on the other the release of new versions has been to frequent for my taste . how bout not releasing anything till its perfected and all bugs removed. the use of this forum is nice but i have rarely gotten to talk to a tech. rather a momma - pappa kind of operation i have always thought but as i say i get through it. xp of course had fewer problems but how many years can hoster go on blaming vista and windows 7...find a way to make hoster work with these operating systems or don't waste cutomers time with all the bugs. just do it right the first time then release it. i have had my frustrations but remain loyal since i have made decent income from my music work and don't have to carry sheet music along for the vocals etc. i just wish they were a bigger more sophisticated company that's all. i'm now having problems with windows 7 which they gave thumbs up to last year and thats why i just spent a thousand bucks on a w7 laptop which is shutting down me and many other hoster customers. i truly hope that they soon get thier software to come up to speed with the times and lets quit blaming windows or vista.if your program doesn't work well with them don't sell hoster to us at all. is this too harsh a commentary on mtu?

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I feel your pain guys. I have had to adjust my video offset frequently to keep lyrics in sync. Just when you think you got it, it goes off. It also appears to happen everytime I get up to do a song. I just can't look at the monitor anymore or I get screwed up.
I have had a few singers complain about it, but not as many as you might think. Maybe they don't care or don't notice it. FYI, I am trying another hosting application and it is fairly new to the market. I used it last night and had 0% sync issues with any of the songs that I played on it. I can even set in and out points in realtime for the karaoke song. Same computer that I run Hoster on as well. I use Hoster 99% of the time though because it is what I am use to and it does OK for me most of the time. Last weekend I started getting the Hoster stopped working messages. It continued this weekend also. I will try the new version that was pushed out this week. I am not going to bash MTU, because I am a programmer too and know all to well what its like to have an application not run correctly all the time. I will use (hosting application) what suits me and what makes my shows easier on me. If it's MTU that's fine if it isn't then that is fine also. |
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
no, ifeel your pain. this is getting old to many of us.i also don't want bash hoster just to be mean. i have said that it has worked well in past versions. i still think it is very important if for no other reaso as a long time customer to keep the issue published on this forum. i don't really believe the mtu folks are sitting back on some sunny beach in mexico and laughing at this series of problems but the point to be made is that when customers invest money in their product it should work right.. end of story. if it hasn't been run through the wringer a thousand times to make sure there are no problems, then DON'T RELEASE IT FOR SALE!!! get it right and let us praaise the product and recommend it to fellow KJ's not tell everyone we know to stay away from the product. i personally am not going to download the "bug fix" until there is sufficient kudos from a lot of hoster users.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I don't have the lyric sync issues you guys are having, and sorry to hear you are. But speaking of "upgrades". I am using hoster lite, and on the version i have, it has all the bells and whistles, that hoster has....silence feature, the player, everything hoster has, the whole nine yards. But mtu saw in their wisdom to take all the features away from us hoster lite guys. So actually an "upgrade" for me, would be a downgrade in features. So, it wasn't like that when i purchased hoster lite, only main difference was the songbook feature. I don't run two rigs, just a small one man week-end warrior operation. But i think they should have kept the hoster lite features, like it originally was.:f

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I hope everyone is having a fun filled, safe memorial week~end. Lets remember our great vets, who gave so much for us. Now, please excuse the double post. But to address your concerns Ed. I personally prefer a, as you refer to them "momma-pappa" kind of operation. Not that mtu is actually. Mtu is the leader in karaoke hosting software, also in karaoke production software...period! They can't please everyone. I've been in the music/entertainment industry for 40 years. Longer then some of these kids, who are suppose to be pro's, have been alive. Patience is the key. I like personal customer service. MTU wrote the book on customer service. Name me a company who will sit down, and hook up to your show computer to analize your problem?
I to, am not pleased with a couple of mtu choices. For instance, bring out an upgrade to hoster, when Microstudio is not fully fuctional on 64 bit. But Hoster is mtu's bread and butter, Microstudio isn't. So here i sit patiently, with a 32 bit PC that is 6+ years old, gone through 3 writters, in order to make back up's. You will not find another presentation software firm, any better then mtu..believe me. You will get it all straightened out. Again...patience.:) |
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
from what i read on Ed's latest post, that there was a "bug fix" for this problems, and he wouldn't download it till he( hears) or knows that everyone who have his problems got theirs' fixed, and for you Ed, how about trying to download it, you'll never know , it might work, ( just a suggestion :))

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I downloaded it last night and noticed that my lyrics were out of sync as well, used to have it at a -5 and now with the upgrade I had to move it to -8

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
Those who are having to use so much offset try using DXdiag and lower the acceleration for your audio. That may bring them back closer together.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
bryan , thank you for your attention to the "shut down" problem today. i am looking forward to a solution with your interest and help. you have restored my hope in the mtu i have known for many years.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I don't know if this will help anyone, but a few posts up I saw someone mentioning that they were thinking of buying a new comp and wanted one that didn't have known problems, so I thought I would throw this in...
I bought Hoster 4.20 a couple months ago and a new HP G61 Laptop from Wal-Mart, it has Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600, 3GB RAM, 1.64GB available physical memory, AMD Sempron M120, 2100 Mhz, 1 Core, I logical processor, My video card is AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200, and my soundcard is a ATI High Def Audio Device... Sorry if I didn't provide enough (or too much) info, but since I have been using Hoster my laptop has not crashed once, with the old program I used it would crash 3-5 times a night, and not save the singers list... The only thing I noticed is that once I started using a DI box from my laptop to my soundboard that I had to use the lyric sync function, before that I didn't have to use it at all... The only other problem I have is that at my last show the music cut out for a few seconds, it only happened 3 times during my show. Since then I have made sure I made all the changes, defraged and got the new update so, fingers crossed for Friday... Anywho, hope that was helpful for someone... Jess |
Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
thanks for the info. i would be interseted to know how the 4.21 revision works out for you on your next show. i have had some audio drop outs as well as crashes with 4.20 but wanted to see if other users are okay with 4.21 as a fix. as far as sound is concerned i am wondering if ithe drop out problem is with the x-fi-go usb sound card, windows 7 or hoster 4.20. i am trying different deductions to figure it out. ill keep the posts up as i go along.
