Video problems

Here is my problem... i am having some, NOT all, of my video istabuttons they are taking up my main screen and i cant shut them off till they are done playing...this is also happening when i pull up vidoes with the video button...why is this and how can i fix this...?

ddouglass October 14th, 2009 06:47 PM

Not quite sure exactly what you mean by taking up the full screen. Do you mean they cover up the Marquee and SND or fill the entire center section of the show display?
As far as the Instabuttons have you tried the Stop button to the left of the Instabuttons?

moonglow October 17th, 2009 05:18 PM

tried that

all i see on my computer screen is the video... takes up the entire screen... no contrls to be seen... and yes i know about the stop button... but i can't get to it beause as soon as i hit the instibutton the video goes to full screen on my pc screen.

What version of Hoster are you using?
Before you hit any other buttons, go to Tools/Options and click on the Reset Displays button. This will shrink the display screen back down to a smaller size for a single display.

i'm useing dual display... the video shows on the tv but also takes up my entire computer screen... and it is only doing it every once in awhile... sometimes it plays on the tv and not my computer screen and sometimes the other thing happens...

ddouglass October 18th, 2009 12:34 PM

What version of Hoster are you using?
What type of video are you using for your Instabuttons?
Are all the ones that show on the main screen instead of in the display the same type?
What is your operating system (XP, Vista or Windows 7)?
Run a System Information and copy the information from the Summary screen to a post here. This will tell us a lot about your computer. It will be under System Tools in your Menu.
Until we know this information I can't go any further in figuring out the problem.

I agree with Dale that this small fix will take care of your problem.

My Operating system is XP... all my videos are in WMV format... could it be the size screen wise that is making them do this cause some of my smaller videos are not doing this... but my longer ones are.

That is a possibility. I know this is going to sound a bit crazy but look on the Intermission page in the Show Display tool. In the middle section you have a control called Position. What is this set to (Center, Tile, or Strecth)? If it isn't set for Stretch try doing that and check your videos. The Intermission controls also control the Video VJ settings.
Another thought to me is that Windows Media Player is also playing these Videos at the same time Hoster is which would be giving you the full screen video over Hoster on the computer. What is strange is that Hoster from 4.09 will not play veideo in the Preview screen. In other words the only place Hoster is paying the videos is on the Singer's Display.
You have said you are using dual screen. Are they playing correctly on the second screen? Also are the two displays of video in sync with each other?

Dale, I'm not sure if I follow his problem correctly, but it may have something to do with his screen size seeting for his primary monitor vs. his extended monitor. Sounds like something that happened to me a while back and I corrected it by making the two equal.

ddouglass October 26th, 2009 10:45 PM

Bryant when you were having the problem a while back it was a problem with video display on the secondary. This is not his problem. His problem is on the Primary (computer) monitor. Since the preview no longer shows videos because of the sync difference, then he should not be seeing any video there while his secondary (singer's display) is showing the video correctly. He is getting it in both locations with the one on the computer showing at full screen.

Sounds like he might have it in clone mode and; some video cards allow you to operate your players in "theater mode", which means when you are playing something from a player such as wmp, or any other, and even when in clone mode, that everything playing on the player will show up on the secondary screen "fully".

billyo October 27th, 2009 04:39 PM

won't re-setting the video display fix this?

ddouglass October 27th, 2009 05:25 PM

He tried and it didn't. He should only be seeing the video on the singer's display on secondary monitor and not on both. The preview doesn't show any videos and he is seeing this second one as a full screen display. Confusing isn't it.
The only thing I can think of that would cause this is that WMP or another program is displaying it along with Hoster.

billyo October 27th, 2009 05:55 PM

but if wmp and hoster are showing it at the same time it's going to be out of sync..

I don't think he is worrying about sync at this point because it is covering his entire screen so he can't even get to his Hoster main screen to stop it.

can he at least see the mouse pointer if he moves it on the singers/preview display?, if he can maybe by dbl clicking it, he might be able to re-size the display, or maybe he got the dpi setting to 120 which is the largest display, the normal setting is 96..

to change the dpi setting go to:
1. control panel
2. display
3. setting..then click on the advance tab

Ok Guys all your answers are great but here is exactly what is happening....
On my dual screen( the one the crowd sees) the videos, istabuttons, i have showing the marqee and the singers display while the video shows in the center. and yes i have gone to show display and told it to hide both marquee and singer display... but it does not do that!!
At the same time my computerscreen (the one i look at not the crowd) has the video taking up the whole screen and i can't do anything till the video stops.

Hiding Marquee and Singer's Name Display (SND) - As far as Videos are you referring to the Instabutton videos as stated before or videos in your playlist? These are two separate uses and as such are controlled in the Show Display on two separate Tabs. Instabuttons are played in the Intermission screen, so you would have to hide the Marquee and SND on that Tab. Videos in the playlist are played in the Video VJ so you would have to hide the Marquee and SND on the Video VJ Tab.
Computer Screen - The video taking up the whole computer screen is where the problem really is. Is the video problem only showing up when using Instabutton large videos or do videos from the playlist do the same thing?
Just out of curiosity, have you tried double clicking on the full screen video to see if it will go back to normal mode?
I think we are running out of ideas here. This kind of problem has never been reported before, so we are really digging to try to figure it out. I would suggest you put in a Support Email to MTU Support and see if they can figure it out.
