Hoster Search Function Not Working

:? Need Help From The Experts! (Again) I just opened a Hoster session and tried to add a new song to an existing Song Book using the "Search" button.

Instead of opening up the search window (for input criteria) the "Add Track Database....." prompt minimizes at the bottom of my screen, and that's all. At this point I am unable to search and add songs!!!

I was using multiple sessions of Hoster to search for songs the last time I used Hoster. Could I have messed something up?

Thanks in advance!
Gwen

P.S. Search function works fine when using "Edit Song" feature.

By "Song Book" I am guessing you are referring to the playlist. If it minimizes at the bottom then right click on it and "Restore" That should bring it back to whatever size it was before you minimize at some point back.

Yes, I do mean Song List. The only option I have for the "Add Track Dat...." option at the bottom of my screen (when I right click) is CLOSE and MINIMIZE.

Do you think I might need to back-up, unnstall, and re-install? (

Gig tomorrow ;>(

Thanks!

It sounds to me like it has slid below the bottom of your monitor.
You can change your video settings so you can see more of your desktop (I can't remember if you need to make it bigger or smaller), then slide the box back up and change the settings back.
Or
In tools(I think) you can reset everything to factory defaults. This does change everything so plan on taking a few extra moments to put it back the way you like it. Sorry I don't have Hoster computer up and running right now or I'd give more precise instructions

Sam

Oh My Gosh!!!!

Oh My Gosh, Oh My Gosh, Oh My Gosh !!!! !!!! !!!! That's exactly what happened. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Words can not express my gratitude.

As I always say, when in doubt or need, try to ask a subject matter expert. You have saved me from about 4 hours of hosting by loading loading CDs into my VocoPro.

Thanks again,

Gwen Butler

I have the same problem...

Hey... I have the same problem. It looks like it is a pretty easy fix but for the life of me I can't work out where to reset the video settings so that I can get the 'add track database' back. Can someone please walk me through how to fix it. Thanks.

And.... that is my problem. Sorry for being computer illiterate. Where is the Tools function. I checked 'Control Panel' & 'Display'. The only Tools function I know of is the Internet one. I am running Windows XP if that helps.

kjunkies November 11th, 2009 04:07 PM

Doh!! It is the 'Tools' button in Hoster that y'all mean. There is no 'Option' button though. I am running an old version of Hoster 3.320. I intend to upgrade but I need to upgrade the Laptop & Computer first as there is not enough RAM to be able to sustain the new versions.

billyo November 11th, 2009 04:25 PM

that's an old version, can't remember now, but i think if you click on tools, there should be one on the drop down '" display ", but i don't think this will help you if you're looking for the search window..are you trying to add/import some song or rebuilding your database? if you are click on tools, click on song database..rebuild and merge should show up

kjunkies November 11th, 2009 04:43 PM

There is a 'preview display'. I changed the setting on this to 'floating on screen' instead of 'default' just to be sure. I restarted Hoster but it didn't change anything.

The only remedy within Hoster in the older versions I know of was a registry hack.

Besides, reseting your display is easier. Just right click on empty spasce on your desktop, look for either properties or your video card name. Click on this and set your display to 640 x 480. Open Hoster, open up the offending window, slide it up to the top left, then reset your display settings.

It won't allow me to add songs to my playlist. The 'Add Track Database' is showing on my Tool bar but there is no screen. It is identical to the problem GwenButler had but I am running an older version so it must be a different fix. It looks like it must be there somewhere but it is off the screen...

ddouglass November 11th, 2009 04:52 PM

What Sam had given was to change your display settings to change the screen size so you can see the Search window and drag it back up to a visible area.
To do this Right Click anywhere on the monitor scrren but not on any icons. Go to Properties. When the utility opens go to the last tab (Settings). Lower left corner is the size adjustment for your screen. Change to someyhing higher than what you normally use. This should allow you to see where the Search windows with Hoster open.
The item Billyo is talking about did not get added until later version 4s. If you need to reset the displays in version 3.320 then you would have to go to the Registry and delete the Hoster settings there. Do not do this unless absolutely needed.

marklwood November 11th, 2009 04:54 PM

Duh!! Sorry for that. I meant change it to 1024x768 of larger.

It sounds easy... the only problem is - when I try to adjust the screen resolution - I have just two options 1024 x 768 (as it is now) & 800 x 600. I tried the later but it didn't help.

I don't have anything higher than 1064x768.. sorry. I should mention that this is my backup computer that is having the problems. It is about 6-7yrs old with just 40gig memory & on 256mb ram. It's old but it serves a purpose & I haven't had any problems until now.

ddouglass November 11th, 2009 05:05 PM

What kind of computer are you using with only those two resolutions?
In the Start Menu go to Programs/Accessories/System Tools -System Information. When it opens and lists the information on the Summary, copy and paste that information into a post here.
