I have this problem on more than one computer, I've tried reinstalling but that doesn't help. I have also made sure that the softwhere is up to date
I'm running windows XP professional on all my units.:?

Have you done all of the things listed on this link?
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/xp-changes.htm

What version of Hoster?

Roy Dennis January 26th, 2009 04:34 PM

When you say you have this problem on more than one computer.
How many computers?.

Is it something that started recently or is this a new Hoster install?

1 license can only be loaded on to one computer + 1 for backup i.e 2 computers only unless you have paid for the other option which I think was 4 computers.

Assuming it is nothing to do with the license you may have other software on all the computers that interferes with Hoster. Apart from the usuall stuff that comes on all Windows., have you loaded any other software that is on all your other units. If you have a number of things identical on all units it may be a process of elimination. Try uninstalling from one computer 1 item at a time testing after each uninstall.

On two of them it started with the new update
All my software is paid for and legal One of them i have nothing but hoster loaded on it new hard drive

billyo January 26th, 2009 06:45 PM

how many hoster license do you have? you said that you have hoster in 2 comp.are you license to have it into 4 comp?

ddouglass January 26th, 2009 06:46 PM

Have you done the items from the link I listed?
Those items have to be done for Hoster to work correctly.

thomas January 26th, 2009 08:34 PM

I am licensed on 5 comp

thomas January 27th, 2009 01:27 PM

I did everything it said to do still having the same problem
Here is what it says:

error signature
App name hoster. exe AppVer 4.0.6.1 ModName wmvdmod.dll
ModVer: 9.0.0.4503 offset 0000e811

I don't know what this means but maybe you do
I can give the technical report but that will take me a while

Beavis January 27th, 2009 01:32 PM

is your computer up to date with windows custom updates ?

thomas January 27th, 2009 01:36 PM

That is a Windows Media Player error.
Try updating Media Player. If that doesn't work, un-install and re-install Media Player.

Roy Dennis January 27th, 2009 02:00 PM

I know you state in your first thread that you did update all the software. But you must do all updates not just recommended ones from Microsoft. I Noticed you did not reply to DDouglass who had a link for you to follow.

From what version of Hoster did you upgrade from ?
And I presume you are talking about upgrading to 4.06.

The only other thing I can think of at the moment apart from what Dale suggested is, you say you had a new hard drive fitted in one computer. Was this the C/ Drive?.
Now this could mean that it is not registered as being uninstalled from that computer as you have to be on line to remove it . In the case of a broken hard drive this would not be possible, so you would have to submit a support ticket to get your registration reset. Remember you have to be on line to uninstall as well as install. don't just uninstall from the add & remove programs windows feature.

If you have multiple registrations make sure you have not got these muddled up as to what computers they are registered on.

yes it was my c drive and I did do all the things on the list, mtu set me up with a link to reinstall it however I just updated my windows media player and I think that fixed it thank you for all your help!!!!!

For all of you, if you get an error message like this where it lists a DLL or any other file along with Hoster in the error message, then Google that file name and you should be able to find out what program it belongs to. Hoster uses Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer along with a host of other Windows files.
Also, when you start a thread with a problem like this be sure to include what the error message says along with what happened, your operating system, version of Hoster, and anything else that you think may be pertinent. This will help us to be able to pin-point your problem and help you get it fixed faster.
