4.04 Problems

I did a show last night and what a bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just upgraded to 4.04 from 3.316.
Approx. 50% of the song lyrics were out of phase with the music. Very Embarrassing!!!! Also, the buttons were very slow to react!!! very slow!!!
This morning I have been troubleshooting the problem and have found that if I start my PC everything runs smoothly, but once i activate "dual screens" the problem occurs!
I have reiterated this info to tech support and will see what they say.

Thanks for helping!I am using an ATI Radeon 7000 64MB PCI Card. I am using the S-Video Output. This worked flawlessly with V3.316!

If you are running Vista, install 4.03 instead. 4.04 works best on XP. There has been a lot of discussion on the Forum & this is what many users have done to solve their out-of-sync & video problems on Vista. They are working to get 4.05 out as soon as possible, to resolve these issues.

Skybird, I am running XP Pro

Beavis September 28th, 2008 01:41 PM

XP Pro may be a little pickier than XP Home. Hoster 4.04 uses a lot of resourses. Did you upgrade your graphics card? There is also an fix suggested in the Manual regarding graphics cards. The Troubleshooting section may be of some help.

Do you have WMP 9 or 11? WMP 9 works for some but WMP-11 may work better for you. Do the computer manufactuer's updates also.

The problems I found in 4.04 also spilled over into the 3.4 bundled version too. I found it best to completely uninstall and install 4.03.

Dell 1720 Laptop
Vista
3GB Ram
2x 360 GB Hard Drives
Gforce 8300 graphic card.

I agree, 4.04 was a nightmare for me. I am running XP. Reverted back to 4.03 which ran fine(with a couple of small problems). I put in support tickets to MTU. Got one back concerning lyrics stopping or slowing while loading singers disk..They told me to update all driver( updated that before submitting ticket, checked again afterwards and to uninstall WMP11. I did, it did'nt help. Based on there reply to this ticket I don't think that MTU believes it is a bug. If 4.05 fixes all these problems I will really be impressed. Have to wait and see.

If you have an external VGA port try using it. You will need an svga to ntsc (Computer to tv) scan converter. I use a usb powered device I got from Bestbuy. Sometimes the the S video port does not supply enough signal. I dont know why. Some bars I use the S video port with no problem, others I have to use the vga port.

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone! I am going to try and upgrade my video card to one with more RAM because this seems to be a resource issue with the new software. I 've been wanting to ugrade to more video RAM anyways. We'll see what happens! If it does not help then I will probably revert back to 3.316 until these issues get fixed.

There is also a suggested Fix in the Troubleshooting section of the Manual you might want to read.

ddouglass September 29th, 2008 08:37 PM

And you do not have to revert back to 3.316 as you have 3.4 included with 4.04.

Yes, I will try the troubleshooting suggestions and keep you posted. As far as reverting back to 3.4 instaed of 3.316, Laddie has noted that these same problems may carry back to 3.4! I know 3.316 works!:?

Did you ever get 3.321? If so, only go back to it instead of way back to 3.316. I don't think anyone else reported any problems with 3.4, but at least it is the same as 3.321.

This sounds like a video card driver issue or a net framework 3.5 issue. Get the latest drivers for your video card and if you are using net framework 3.5, get it off of your machine.

This morning I have been troubleshooting the problem and have found that if I start my PC everything runs smoothly, but once i activate "dual screens" the problem occurs!

Again this sounds like a video card driver issue. On my Nvidia GeForce 5200 I could not use the latest driver. I had to keep trying old drivers until I found one that worked. :r

I have reiterated this info to tech support and will see what they say.

Before you give up on Hoster 4 try this.

First Windows custom update your version of XP

Go to the MTU web site and download a copy of 3.321a.

Install 3.321a on your machine using your 3.316 regcode.

After the 3.321ainstall, resatrt your computer and rebuild your database.

Work with 3.321a and make sure it is running well.

Once you are sure it is running correctly (you have all the updates to make this happen) upgrade to 4.05.

I have never upgraded from 3.316 but i have upgraded fron 3.321a twice with no problems.

I say all of this assumig you are elegiable for the free upgrade to 3.321a. :r

Also to run Hoster 4 you need IE7, I reccomend WMP11, I reccomend Net Framework 3. you will be doing alot of updating so leave yourself some time. :r

Of course if you do not have the time just go back to 3.316 to get back on your feet. :)

I hope this helps.

Jim :g

NOTE TO ALL:
Always run mock show with Hoster 4 at your house before using it at a gig.

Thanks Everyone! I'll keep you posted:)

Again, this is a case where updating over something that may already work fine. I have also before updated drivers only to find out that the newer one was worse for certain programs, or didn't work at all. that's why they have a "roll back driver" option in control panel, too.
If something does already work, and if you're not absolutely positive that it's an old driver that's causing the current problem, updating for the sake of updating is not always advisable.

Last night I checked every thing. All widows updates done, WMP11, XP Pro SP3, IE7. I updated my Video & Sound card drivers. Nothing helped. MTU tech support suggested I do updates and upgrade to 4.05 but this did not fix the problem either. However, I ran 3.4 and it worked fine. While I still think this has something to do with video resources etc., ultimately it is an MTU software issue! This should not be happening! Tonight I am going to replace my video card with an ATI Radeon 9000 256MB DDR RAM. If all else fails, at least I can use 3.4:)
