Hoster 4.01 Problems

Has anyone had problems with the new 4.01 hoster? It locks up when a song ques or will not load songs to playlist. It also dose it when you load a singers CD that they bring. If you open 3.40 it dose fine. Any clue on how to fix it.

mykaraokedj August 1st, 2008 02:50 PM

I think it's a bug I'm having the same issues

I believe it's a bug. I opened up a ticket a week ago and haven't heard back yet, but I believe they'll get a patch out pretty quickly. At least I'm hopeful anyways.

Beavis August 1st, 2008 02:58 PM

just use 3.40 that comes with 4.0X

you need to go into your C: drive to get it.

Hoster 4.0X does not run under windows vista yet !

alot of people are having issues using XP also !

mykaraokedj August 1st, 2008 03:00 PM

I'm using XP Media addition

Any reason it locks up after videos and sometimes before video right after a karaoke song? Any fix recommendations?

slingshot August 1st, 2008 03:15 PM

I run XP and haven't had any issues till now. Thanks. Maybe they will have a fix for it soon.

mykaraokedj August 1st, 2008 03:21 PM

until now meaning until you got the 4.01 upgrade right? if so that's my case too.

slingshot August 1st, 2008 03:25 PM

That's right. It started when I upgraded to 4.01

mykaraokedj August 1st, 2008 03:42 PM

hmmm ok well if you hear of a fix let me know. Thanks.

slingshot August 1st, 2008 03:43 PM

We'll do.

Videos have been a problem and that is why you cannot import them into Hoster Songbook yet. The current beta versions are running much better now and working for the most part on Vista as well. MTU is still trying to get all the bugs fixed as quickly as they can so they can release 4.02.
Your best bet right now is to make sure your computer is up-to-date with Microsoft Custom Updates. Your best bet is to also make sure you have Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media Player 11, and SP3 installed. The IE7 and WMP are used by Hoster for displays.

mykaraokedj August 1st, 2008 04:49 PM

hmm yes i have IE7. Not sure about SP3 will look tonight. But Media Player11(which is what I have) I don't think recognizes it as version 11 and I've been unable to until stall media player altogether and do a fresh install so I utilize divx and some others to ensure that I can play all types of files. But I'll try the SP3. Thanks.

used hoster 4.01 for the first time last night at our show and played the first song OK but when we called the 2nd singer up the screen froze, took about 3 minutes b4 I could even close the program and had to revert to using our old hoster lite version. Any suggestions on why it freezes after playing songs. Also will not play MP3G?

Beavis August 2nd, 2008 09:24 AM

you should have reverted to version 3.40, its in the hoster folder !

Make a shortcut to:

c:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Hoster34.exe

and put it on your desktop. If Hoster 4 gives you problems just click on the shortcut, open 3.40 and keep on trucking.

Be sure your videos (.wmv anyway) are not DRM protected. If you bought them from some web site, they probably are. We don't support DRM yet... Vista woes have taken all our development time to solve. :r

We found a major bug related to CUE status. This is when we are opening files to get them ready to play. We are finishing the fix today (Lord willing) for Beta 8 to go out tonight to our testers. God bless em' for all the investment they have done with us. Dale and MadJim are two of the most active! :c :)

Bug in CUE code. :s

We HOPE to release 4.02 on Wednesday... if we get it out today for testing. We have found some BIG bugs that were causing what you all are reporting. Our beta testers are now running shows with 4.02 Beta 7 and most of the problems are gone. We got the lyrics-music and the Preview Display + Show Display to all get in sync. Vista has been a nightmare!!!!!!! :e

Word to the wise... If you have XP, DON'T EVER CONSIDER CHANGING TO VISTA! It is now rumored that Windows 7.0 will replace Vista in a few years. Let's see, it'll take Microsoft another few years to get Vista working for all programs. So just about that time, they'll pull the carpet out from under us again with 7.0.... Keep your XP healthy and installed...

1. Install ZoneAlarm as a firewall to block keyloggers, trojan horses, and other nefarious hacker tools.

2. Buy a good AntiVirus program.

3. DO NOT USE free internet email companies (Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail, Freeserve, etc.) for your email.

I'm not pushing Google, but their gmail has the best virus and other nasties and spam-blockers available. Our webmaster has converted to gmail (and keeping his older email) and almost all the spam hitting his decades-old email is NOW gone. We're about to convert also.

Hoster Locking up

I used Hoster 4.1 for the first time at a live show last Wed. I had the same problem. Twice when cueing it locked up and hosted ended. Fortunately the auto save worked but it did stop the show for a few minutes. It did it again when I tried to load a singers Cd. Same issue. I was then afraid to use the load function so I used my backup cdg player to get on with the rest of the show.

I hope these issues are corrected soon, I am starting to lose face with my singers...

If use use the 3.40 that is in the Hoster file you'll not have any problems. Did 4 shows this past week using it with know problems. Thats what I'm going to do untill the issuse are fixed.

mykaraokedj August 4th, 2008 03:04 PM

ya i uninstalled it and will just wait till these issues are fixed in vs 4.02 I'm presuming that's the next release?

The Disc Import does have some bugs in it that go back a long way. MTU is aware of it and should be fixing it in 4.03.
