I called them again today & they reconfirmed that they in no way offering XP as a replacement. Absolutely no way no how. I even talked with the superviser the tech rep I was talking to & he said he'd like to know where I got this info from because they need to be set straight & reitterated, they will no give XP discs to Vista users. They are not reverting back to XP for new computers, any new computer sold since Vista came out will come with Vista only. If they found out stores were downgrading, they would immediately void the warranty of the computer.

I received my downgrade disc from HP TODAY.
3 disc XP Pro and drivers disc and a software disc for backup program.
the # i Called was 1-800-952-7689 option 1 and 2
they said EXACTLY what i told you all.
the disc cost me $10.67 and that included shipping.

Also you can tell them you got the info from me.
Also you can STILL BUY HP COMPUTERS WITH XP. Bob

That number is for corporate/business, mine is a personal use tower at home. But I will try again during their business hours of Mon-Fri.

Mine is at home for personal use.
but is a hp/compaq dc5750 small form factor business class desktop.
and that is the number they told me to call for restore cds.
when i said i had a lot of trouble with vista.
that is when i was told that they have had so many complaints.
they were allowing people to downgrade to xp.
so instead of getting restore disc for vista they allowed me to get restore cds for xp-pro at no extra charge. Bob

But being it's a 'business class' vs a home class may be the reason. The hp site for home editions have adimately denied anyone is recieving XP discs as a downgrade & will void the warranty if it is done - by them or by home user.
Now maybe the business side is different, even though you bought it for home use, it's classified a business class. But like I said I will give it a try on Monday when they open again, but not expecting anything.
