i read those requirements, i thought those are only for vista and w7, i never had a problem with Hoster v4.20, a little bit of a problem on v.4.21, i though i upgraded to 4.21, , and i found out that i did not till 3 days ago, so i upgraded and i had a little bit of hic-cup which is not really a big deal, but now i upgraded to 4.22, the hic-cups became frequent and the rapid stutter came up , it's like the needle getting stucked when playing a cd..

I really don't know what else to say. I believe it says that the updates are "needed to run 4.22", but some of the problems that were fixed were only related to Vista & 7.:r I don't think any changes were made 4.22 after we tested the Beta. (if you read all the "details" of what MTU did, tht should explain it better than I can).
Gotta run & do a Show. Good Luck!:):)

Biggest thing is to update from Microsoft. Make sure you have the latest Custom updates from them. MTU upgraded their installer builder which now requires the newer items from Microsoft.

OH NO!!!

I upgraded this morning at about 4 am and have a show tonight at a new place (at 9pm tonight, about 90 minutes from right now [6/25/10]). I wanted to make an impression so I wil be invited back ... but it looks like I may be up the creek without a paddle ...

How the heck do I back down to 4.21 ... Durn Durn Durn ... !!!

go to whereever you saved the upgrade and click on it, and removed it, once it's removed click on 4.21 and install it

everytime you do and upgrade you should always choose save jiust incase something like this happened..i guessed you're stucked with 4.22 now, before you can go back to v4.21 you have to removed v4.22, or if you install 4.21w/o removing v4.22 it will say " already in 2 comp "

Thanks Billy ... I feel better already !!! lol

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

What Billy didn't tell you is that MTU only keeps the latest version available. This is why you Save the downloads and why you don't upgrade right before a show.
I hope it worked all right for your show.

Well Fellas,

As you may know, I'm new at this (Hoster) and I didn't realize that I couldn't back up to the prior version. I WILL NOT download an upgrade prior to a show again. Rest assured none of this will happen to me again...

During my show tonight the music "stuttered" about 6-8 times during different songs and Hoster shut down four times. The stuttering was only very briefly, so I kept on going. Per normal, Hoster stopped between songs.

I had taken my old system (disc/player) with me, so I had a plan "B"...

I have a show tomorrow night also (Saturday) so I guess I'll see what happens with 4.22 then... After that, I don't have anything until Thursday.

Maybe by then, the Hoster Fairy will bring me a fix!

BIllyo also had the stuttering problem after first install. Try re-installing it again.
Also, check the Microsoft Custom Updates and do those too. MTU upgraded their compiler program and now use the latest WMP and DirectX. WHich means we also have to upgrade to those.

if you read the new thread i posted " v4.22 problems fixed " it might help you going without a problem tonight, i guessed when MTU upgraded to the latest wmp and directx it did something to the playback offset, i never had audio problem till i upgraded to v4.22 i had mine set to -0.5 but when i did all the changes before i re-installed v4.22 i changed the playback offset to -0.4..my suggestion would be, make sure to choose the correct version of wmp, mine was v11 (sp2)

i read the requirements for Hoster to run right, i didnt think that i needed to change ( updates) wmp & directx since i'm still running xp and never had audio/ out of sync problems, i thought those changes are only for vista and w7.( read change requirements # 4 )but anyway all is good.:g

The WMP no would not have changed except for maybe some fix up dates by them. XP cannot run any higher than WMP 11. The DirectX is another thing and can be upgraded. I have never had any problem with needing any offset. The Beta Testers using Vista and Windows 7 all set theirs back to 0.0 and had no sync problems at all any more. Yours could be because of using SP2 instead of SP3 (I know you can't load it without crashing). As long as it is steady and -4 works for you that is ok.
The others though should try setting it to 0.0 and try it.

You would have thought that someone would have posted what the latest version of Windows Media Player is? Where to find their version numbers. And what a DirectX is?, and where you find the latest version of that as well. Here's a thought, believe it or not, some people using hoster just might not know this info. I myself am not sure about the DirectX thing. Never had to even give either thing a thought before...i dunno:?

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Fellas,

Thanks a lot for all the information. I went to Microsoft and downloaded the lastest version, but beyond that, I'm leaving things as they are for tonight because I have a show. I will try these "fixes" after tonight...

I've been running Hoster in the auto mode for over an hour now and no studders so far.

I will post whatever happens tonight after the show (good or bad)...

The way you find the latest (WMP, DirectX and more) is to go to Microsofts Update web page (link in your Start Menu) and do the Custom updates. The same way MTU has always said to do it in the instructions for setting up Hoster. This should be done everytime you upgrade Hoster.
DirectX is an Audio Control package part of Windows. The Custom updates will tell you if there is a newer version that you need to install.
For WMP basically it is version 11 for XP as the highest, and version 12 for Vista and Windows 7. This does not mean there haven't been any fixes or updates to any of those versions which is why you need to check too.
