How did you delete the folder ?
Did you do this in windows explorer ?
If so then what can happen is Hoster still thinks all those files are in the database because you didn't remove them via Hosters edit dialog or by using the exclude folder option first to remove those folders from the songs.mdb in the build database dialog.
Then when you try adding the same songs again it treats them as duplicated files and sends them to the quarantine folder.
I see you say you have done this in the past so perhaps you did something slightly different but I wouldn't recommend this approach.

my process for deleting old folder & adding new is:
- removing songs using exclude folder
- updating database (removes all songs)
- closing hoster
- copy new file folder using explorer
- reopening hoster
- removing folder from excluded folders list
- re add new folder & run rescan folder
sometimes i simply add new songs but oftentimes i completely wipe and create a new file because i work on spelling errors, removing duplicates etc. on a separate laptop and replace old folder for new. does this make sense?

It seems you have removed the folder in the correct way that should avoid the duplicate issue I referred to.
I get a bit worried when people mention separate computers, do you use this separate computer to import any files ?
If it's just to copy and paste I don't see a problem.
I can't point to the the problem yet but something in this removing & copying seems to be where the problem started.
See what happens the next time you re install and we'll take it from there. :r

Re: Post Hoster 5.08 Problems here

I am having a database/quarantine issue with Hoster 5.08 as well. I upgraded to the most recent version this week...my ABOUT HOSTER lookup does not show a period after the 5.08, just the number.

When I added my KMA files, over 500 were quarantined. I did not understand that, I thought there was an error when I moved my archive over, so I used Sync Toy to rebuild my KMA files and attempted to reimport again, and saw the notice about the files with errors, and the error log etc... Noticed the duplicates on the error log and came here to look for answers.

HELP! What do I do about these quarantined files, which I now have doubled (the repeats now have a 1 after them) and how do I get hoster to allow me to use the other 500 some songs that are currently missing from my database? My 4.11 Hoster on the backup reads the database with no problems. I clicked the link from back in December about the fix but that just took me to the download page, which I just DL'd from last week.

THANKS!!!

I can't understand why you are not seeing the period after the version # if you downloaded the execute file last week, yes it does take you to the download page :?
If you still have the original bad install file I should delete it so that you do get the new file.

What I suggest you do is follow the link again and the instructions that was in post #12 of this thread and quoted here:

Ok,
Quick 5.08 Update has been done to fix the Quarantined files. Please make sure that you download it from here http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm

The only way to find out if it is the correct version or not, is you must install it, then Open Hoster. Once you are in Hoster, go to the Help Menu\About Hoster here you should see 5.08. Notice the Period after the 8. This is the only place, that it will show if you have the fixed version or not.

If after downloading again your version still does not show the period after the version # report back and I will inform Support myself that something is wrong with the download.

If you do get the correct version showing the period then you need to replace the files that were in your quarantined back to their original folders then do the rebuild again.
As you are now showing duplicate copies of these files I should delete the duplicated files with the 1 after them and just return the original copies to their original folders.
Or if you have a backup of the original files use them and delete all the files in the quarantine folder, also delete the contents of the BuildSongDBLog.txt & BuildSongErrors.txt

Let us know how things go.

Thank you ... I will attempt to re-download at this time...if I get the period after the version, will delete the noted files, rebuild the files in the folder and build database. If I do not get the correct version after download, will advise here. THANKS>

I downloaded the file, came with the same name as the one I got last week...just appended a (1) on the end... Version 508.11. Restarted computer and period appears on the new version number.

May want to let them know that the version that I downloaded last week was not the upgraded one.

THANKS!

I think that what may have happened before, it did not over-wright the original file as it was the same name, that's why I stated "If you still have the original bad install file I should delete it so that you do get the new file"
I have had this happen in the past myself, it seems this time it appended the (1) to the file name.
Hope the rest goes OK.:w:)

Last week was a clean install on a newly installed operating system. Thanks Roy, will let you know if I find any other issues. Appreciate the help immensely.

Harryoke,
Can you tell me where you downloaded that file from? That way I can make sure they are all updated.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, but how can I get rid of those underscores in the spaces on the Sound Choice Gem series tracks. I know with this version it's not the searching problem it was in earlier versions. I went to the define field order button, and checked the Replace underscore etc.. but when I create a new songbook, they remain on the pages. Do I need to rebuild songbook database to have it take effect? These are very annoying when dealing with songbooks. Thanks for any help

You would have had to have had that box checked at the time you imported those songs for it to work.
It would then import those songs without the underscores and show them removed in searches as well as songbooks.
Just ticking that box afterwards would have no effect.

That's great. When I loaded them I had no idea what they would look like. Underscores, typo's galore! The Geniuses at SC strike again! Thanks, I guess there's no fix for this?

The only way i can think of is to re import them all again :f

Or you may be able to use Microsoft Word find and replace feature to find "_" and replace with a space " " :)

Mp3g toolz is a free program that does all this automatically.

I take it you have set your Power settings to Maximum Performance while running Hoster.

The main setting after that are from Tools/Audio Controls, at the bottom is a box for prevent Audio dropouts that Should also improve the key change, a higher number improves sound but slows reaction time so play around with this setting, If you don't find an improvement there try Tools/Tempo mode and select Normal play mode. when using this mode tempo slider can't be used.

Are you using an external usb sound card or mixer ?
If so, see if just using the internal sound card improves it just to test it.
