Re: Remove Silence Problem

Right now I have 4.22 and 4.32 versions on different computers.

I did the remove silence feature for audio songs (KMH) on my 4.22 machine, and when I turned on the remove silence it did not affect any audio songs. So now is it my understanding that if I do it on my 4.32 machine it will take out the 4 to 10 seconds of silence on my audio songs???

I am confused:?

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Sorry to double post here. The reason I said I was confused is there were a few posts that said that silence can only be removed from Karaoke music and not Audio music. Is that correct??

No change has been made to Remove Silence between 4.22 and 4.32 so should be no different. So may not make any difference.
What I don't understand is the 4 - 10 seconds silence in the audio files. Most I have ever seen for a professionally done audio song has been 1 - 2 seconds at the end and none at the beginning.

How are you playing these? (Background Audio or main Playlist)
If it is Playlist are you using Manual or Auto play?
What type of original files are they? (ZIP, MP3, WMA, MP4,etc)

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Howdy, I have uploaded almost all my songs from store bought CD's except about a dozen songs from ITUNES and about 100 songs from Amazon.

There is no silence at the beginning of these songs but the ending silence fluctuates, I just played Eight Days A Week before entering this post and when the silence started there was still 6 seconds left counting down.

I was ready to leave this alone, but was responding to ADMIN's post

Stu, I take exception to that. We added Audio and Video file paying into the Playlist, and added the Background Audio Player so you didn't need other audio player or DJ programs to play audio.

Hoster has an extremely sophisticated method to detect the silence before and after a song, even with audio glitches within these areas. It performs very well in 4.32.

What Hoster version are you running?

I did upload these songs to ITUNES (through the years) and recently moved them from my ITUNES folder to my HOSTER AUDIO folder that might be the problem. If it is it would take me much too long to reload the CD's directly to Hoster.

Thanks, Stu

Re: Remove Silence Problem

The last upgrade did fix a bug reported by myself and others where the silence was being removed from the beginning of Karaoke songs but was not stopping play at the set end silence time, this was corrected in the last upgrade.
I believe it only works on the karaoke files. I do not have any imported mp3 files myself but I just tried it on a small folder of 20 songs and it doesn't seem to remove silence on any of them.

Re: Remove Silence Problem

It could be that Itunes does add more silence at the end and probably a bit of noise that Hoster recognizes as part of the song.
I have a Wav editor I use sometimes and it will work on more than just WAV files. It is called WavPad and was a free program. It would be able to show what if anything was in that 6 seconds and can also chop that off.

Re: Remove Silence Problem

i've been removing silence , cutting dead spots, adding transitions and efx on some of my itunes dowloaded songs ( top 40's )using a music editing software, after doing all that, i burn it to a cd , and re-import it to itunes, i then create a playlist. i have never use Hoster for djing purposes, but maybe if you can do what i did on my itunes music, you can create a separate file and import them to Hoster.

I removed silence from 10,000 karaoke songs from 2 computers but both computers crash, When I try to remove silence from the remaining 13,000 karaoke songs Hoster crashes on both computers. I have 2 gigs of ram and dual processors on each computer. What could be the problem?

What version of Hoster?
What operating system?
Does Hoster crash and close or is it you are getting an error message?

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Kate,
Is it processing another 2o-30 tracks each time or is it the same tracks that it processed previously.
From the edit screen enter * and search complete song list then click the header bar for s-e set which should show how many it has processed.

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Hi Roy Dennis,

It would appear to be another 20 - 30 as the overall total is decreasing each time and looking through on edit there is quite a lot done

This usually means you have a corrupted file that is causing Hoster problems. The way to fix these is to use the Edit Songs tool and do the following:
Click Select Multiple
Put a * in the search block and click Find
This will list all of your songs and may take a few seconds to complete.
Highlight all in the list by selecting the top song, scroll to the bottom of the list, hold the shift key down and click on the last song in the list.
Do not change anything else and click on Apply Changes button. This again will take a little bit to complete, but will rewrite all the headers of the files correcting the corruption.

That should fix it and allow the Remove Silence to run completely through.

Kate this may help your situation too.

I did what I was instructed to do 5 times and got this message: There have been no changes to apply to your songs.

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Remove silence still won't resume.

Re: Remove Silence Problem

Did you try checking them with what Roy said in post #74? This will tell you if they have all already processed. If no files are shown then they have all been processed.
